Hi I am new to nerfhaven and am having some problems. I decided to buy a longshot about a month ago. After geting annoyed that it couldn't fire stefens I decided that I would try to do carrtoon mod to start. So I took out the ar and added another spring and put it back together. I shot it and it made a super loud noise and the streamlines went half the distance as before. I tried my stefans, CTDs and every other dart that worked in the longshot and they all didn't work .Whats did I do wrong? I checked the seal on the plunger head and must have opened it up 5 or 6 times with no success.

Did you forget to put the dart tooth back in place?

Also, theres a hole in the top of the bolt where the air restrictors used to be. It needs to be plugged from the inside using tape.

No the dart tooth is definetly still there and when the bolt slides forward it pushed the streamline back into it like it should. And did you mean the hole that you can see if to take out the mag and look with the bolt closed

The hole in the bolt is on the top side and can only be seen when the bolt is in the forward position. YOu wouldn't be able to see it with the gun fully assembled unless you left out the jam door.

Okay I think that I found the hole that you are talking about but i cannot figure out a way to plug it with tape from the inside.

Put a drop of super glue in the hole, and let it dry. Sand smooth and tada.


I don't think that is the problem though.

Would hot glue work cause I am out of super glue

I plugged mine with hot glue. Just put a dab, put the shell halves together, then put about 5 screws in the gun for stability. Work the bolt back and forth about 20 times. This is a LOT less annoying if, like me, you take out the bolt lock.
Also, I left out my jam door. Partly because I didn't like it, partly because I breech load and it got annoying, but mostly because I forgot it.

Hey thanks I plugged the hole and the distance has improved but it still makes that annoying noise and it seems like it is just barely better than stock if not equal. Now what did I do?

You're not giving alot to go on. Try removing your extra spring and see if your ranges improve or worsen.

Yeah ok I did this and it made the range slightly less but the noise went away . Anyway I will tell you exactly what I did to give you more info
I opened it up and got to the plunger tube
I used the dremel and cut through the part in the back until it was wide enough for me to pull out the ar
the only thing that I didn't do to the plunger tube and bolt was to take out the peg
should I do this or will it affect the range/accuracy in a bad way.

I don't think the spring you're adding has the right dimensions needed to improve the guns performance.

The peg needs to come out if you want to use Stefans.
I removed the peg on my Longshot and haven't had any problems with feeding. Range and accuracy haven't changed either, as far as I can tell.

Nf spring as in the industrial spring the size of a nite finder spring or an actual nite finder spring? Because if you used an actual nite finder spring its no wonder you would get stock ranges. If you have to go buy a Big Bad Bow and take the spring out of that and put it inside the longshot stock. That will at least give you 100 feet.

All right I will do that but then what do I replace the spring in the bbb with?

It works! I wasn't able to go to Target for a bbb and being inpatient as I am looked for a good spring. I found a toilet paper roll spring that fit the longshot plunger tube perfactly and here are the results

There was also a wind which affected it but I am only useing stefens in this baby because the streamlines are way too inaccurate.

Not the freaking toilet paper springs again...

You ought to eventually upgrade to a better spring. It is possible for an LS to hit over 100 with some good modding (though you'll have to do something like an Angel Breech).

Also, you ought to make some CDTSs, or Converted Dart Tag Stefans. Streamlines aren't DT darts, but they work equally well. Rip off the head and consider it a pre-cut stefan that you just need to weight and dome.

Yeh thanks I tried making CDTSs and I could not get them as accurate as my stefens. As for the Angel breech, I would have tried that later but there is no brass in my area.

Dude, just so you know putting a BBB spring inside the LS does get you better ranges but at a price. Your LS will break after awhile. The BBB spring is just to powerful for it.
