So he comes out and yells at us, And we calmly walk away, begin to pack up and go to the other side of the park, to avoid calamity. So as we're packing up, two cops pull up.
So they pull up, and the dad, who apparently called the cops, walked up and approached, and admited he sicked them on us. He Said, and I quote,
"Those stupid dumbasses mother f*ckers shot and it almost hit us. I mean, there are kids all over! (Note there were none at the time other than those picnicing, but at this point there was) "and told his bullshit side of the story.
Then we tell ou side of the story and this retarded cop starts talking about charging jake with felonious assault with an air rifle. This is where I chiommed in that we were shooting f*cking foam darts, and not at a very high FPS either. He noted that, then proceded to kick us out of the park. So here we are at my house, with 15 guys, nerfing.

It's a shame man, but it happens. We got nailed, and the cop could find no reason to kick us out. He proceed to do so anyway. When I asked for a reason, he saw a dart on the ground, said we littered and proceed to kick us out. It happens, but 90% of the time, if you have a good attitude, they won't do anything but ask you to stay away from people.

As much as we call it a "public" park, we have to remember that the public has first dibs on it, rather than us, because of what we use it for.
The cops are doing their job, it's that simple. But I honestly can't share your animosity. We've had a million different altercations with the police around here on the east coast at plenty of places, and the cops take the same stance, "That's cool as hell - but please, make sure you know that there's other people around".
What really sucks, is that guy's retooling of the story.
The moral of the story is, keep your distance, even if you didn't do any harm it's just safer that way.

When he started swearing I was about to break down crying and just say "HE SAID THE F WORD"
But the cops were there and I didn't want any trouble.

The only things I can say here are that if you reacted to the cop the same way you tell the story here, its no wonder you got kicked out. Just cause one moron adult starts swearing at you guys doesn't invoke the right for you to start swearing back. Actually, if he's swearing in the direction of you and you calmly tell the cop the situation, the cop will most likely believe you. Then we tell our side of the story and this retarded cop starts talking about charging jake with felonious assault with an air rifle. This is where I chiommed in that we were shooting f*cking foam darts, and not at a very high FPS either. He noted that, then proceeded to kick us out of the park.
Also the, "its only foam moving slowly" excuse will never work.
I don't know about you guys, but in our wars, specially with the Philly kids' airguns, those darts are moving pretty fast.(Just ask OMC about his welt from Gnomefest) And when people aren't aware of what exactly is being fired remotely close to them, they get very nervous. We know the darts aren't deadly, but they don't.
We dealt with a similar situation at Gnomefest where one of the Philly kids accidentally hid in bushes that were a part of someone's property. The person came out and mentioned that to us and we were polite(no profanity was used) merely said that we were sorry and would play further down the hill, and then we matched actions to our words, and nothing more was heard from the guy. So just remember the manners that your mother taught you, and you will go farin keeping our local nerfing venues open for your use.

We did everything politely and listened to the cops. I don't think the cops were bad, but I think that guy was being a moron.
Anyway, we used our manners, and followed the directions of the police officer. Which was to pretty much leave the park for a while...
Oh yeah, we were using some pretty high powered guns...
Anyway, it turned out though the war had nothing to do with Pirates like we intended, moving it to ATB's house and my house made the war a bit better...like the pizza, and the water...and the ditches, and the lack of middle aged pedaphiles

Cops should be respected and treated with the upmost politeness as goes with park patrons. It's usually LCM cutsom to approach other users in the park that are in remotely close to gun range of what we are doing and the fact that our weapons are not paintball. If people come within firing range, the war is paused. Proactiveness is always better than a sitaution happening.
Cops usually don't care about nerfers, unless if it disturbs or hurts someone else. You should have approached the guy and told him that you were (you felt) far enough away that they werre in a safe range, and if he had a problem offered to move.

I doubt Cx would argue with that custom title, but Julie might have dibsI nominate TIS as the official unofficial "nerf MOM" cause he is clearly one of the most responsible people I have ever met, especially when it comes to dealing with Non-nerfers around us.
