It's been one year since we had our first major war here in Chicago. Let's put Chicago on the map for good this time! Everyone from around the nation and Canada is cordially invited! This is all about getting back to our roots and having FUN!

When: April 10, 2010

Where: Centennial Park
9400 S Oak Park Ave
Oak Lawn, IL 60453

Rules:
- Since the theme is Back to Basics, only stock darts will be allowed, with the exception that streamlines can only be used with N-Strike Clip System Blasters. If you have old stock megas and whatnot, now is the time to put them to good use!
- Don't be a douche
- Please no darkly painted/realistic looking Nerf Guns
- Manta Rays and Crossfire Shields are the only shields allowed.
- Hopper clips are banned
- ALL HOMEMADES ARE SUBJECT TO MY APPROVAL

Here's what to bring:
- Nerf Blasters and backups in case of breakage
- Eye Protection, or else you won't be able to play
- Ammo, I highly suggest writing your name on the stock darts or doing something to distinguish your own from everyone elses
- Lunch and Drinks, We'll have 30 minutes for lunch and back to Nerf. If you're late, we're starting without you.

Banned Guns:
- Singled and plugged 4B's
- Singled Titans
- Pump Replaced Air guns
- Barrel Replacements over 9"
- Anything that is dangerous/unfair/hampers fun of others

I'm going to throw in my name as a Maybe here. If Cataclysm gets moved to a date that works for me, I'll be going to that, and I can't afford two trips to Chi-town right now. If Cataclysm is a no-go, then I'll make an effort to get to this one instead (assuming my wife doesn't decide to go into labor early or anything silly like that.)

ps. I take it that dart mod where you replace the suction part of the dart with a thumbtack is illegal in this war 'cause i dont wanna be hit by those deadly darts.

Tack darts aren't going to be allowed at any war run by anyone with even half a brain. This war in particular though is for stock darts only - any modification to a dart would render it ineligible. (i.e. adding a weight, changing the tip, using hot glue on it, etc)


I would venture to guess, however, that cutting a short length of foam off of the tail end of your dart to prevent jams in Mavs & Fireflies would be ok? I only mention this as this is something I do, and I am considering attending this war - so I want to be completely sure...

Ambiance is perfectly correct there.

Feel free to cut off the back of the darts to prevent jams and whatnot. As long as the stock dart head is not modded and intact, it's fine.

Just thought I'd post here to say that I'm a no for this one - because I'm pretty much set on being at Cataclysm and 2 weekends in a row isn't going to fly with the wife.

Dude, so what about the pump-replaced SGSL I'm planning on doing? Are you going to need to test it on-site? Will I have to fiddle with the barrel setup?

Seems like a good time to restate these rules. I'd have to say no to the pump replaced SGSL, given what the rules say. Also, try and stay away from uber-modded/powerful stuff. Many people will be using stock guns. I won't hesitate to ban anything that hampers the fun of others, because fun is what Nerfing is about. Let's keep this simple and fun.

In the interest of trying out a new game type if we have enough people, please try to have at least one pistol in case we run out of loaners. Pistol splats don't count! Nitefinders, crossfires, stuff at non-primary ranges.

Cleaned up the first post with attendance and whatnot. Also, all homemades must be approved by me, so bring backup NERF blasters if I don't allow your homemade.

We had mailed-in support for stock ammo from awesome people working for Nerf, and had some giveaways!

Some quick thoughts, I'll have a more detailed writeup later.

- Twenty-one people at our most. Blackjack.
- Giveaways!
- There was some downtime between rounds, but as the year gets going we hope to shrink that down.
- Pretty laid back atmosphere I hope, with the exception of a couple times hosts had to be hosts.
- When the rounds got going, I like to think they went fast for the most part. Emphasis on most, I'll get to that in a sec.
- 20 person CTF, ftw. 4 team CTF... interesting.
- There was some confusion at times I think over rules and gametypes, especially when trying to explain things out.
- Plant/Search and Destroy really needs a playground/structure.
- Some hilariously Effeminate moments:
- Trying the 300 gametype and having it fail, but in spectacular and hilarious fashion as captured on video.
- Newbie taking out an entire team earlier on with a shield and a maverick. lol.
- Shoeless. Nuff said.
- Said Shoeless somehow distracting/moving the MASSIVE TRACTOR LAWNMOWERS away from the war site.
- Oh yeah, and I'll give props to Kane for showing up and supplying wyes out to the people (and even those that didn't know what to do with them). Way to spread the wealth, all the same.

That's about all I got for now. More later. Great war, guys! Hope everyone there had fun, which is indeed the most important thing.

Are you limiting his scope of coital rejection to just homo-sapiens, including Amish farmers and D-list reality stars? Is it quite possible an extraterrestrial would not touch him with 10' pole? The possibilities, they are endless.
