Is that a piece of somewhat-large PVC connecting the back of the turret to the gun?

I'm so proud...lol.

Looks great!

Thanks. Its actually some 1.5" PVC (I beleive, I got it from my friend) Fits just around the turret after you grind down those little nubs on the side. It's very sturdy, but I took it off, so I could use different barrels, and because there was a seal problem.

I would add a real barrell and mount it on a gauntlet.

Yeah, imaginary barrels suck.

McFlurry, that is amazing. Great job, very clean.

That's pretty nice z80. I've never seen that gun before.

I have Vinyl connecting the turret to the airtank. It's pretty nice, gets decent range with good ROF.

I think getting rid of that vinyl tubing and connecting the airtank directly to the turret will increase ranges by a bit.

The problem is that it is too thin to fit the whole turret part. The vinyl is also only like two inches long, so it wont hurt that much.

My moded BBB. First successful mod. Still looking for a name.

How about "Terror" or "Stalker"?

How about Ultra Unicorn Blaster 2000?

SM500 with a 2k pump that none of you have ever seen (I traded it a longass time ago):

This thread needs more pictures.

Whoa. I did like the SAME thing to my sm500. The check valve kicked the bucket, so I figured a 2k pump would work well. Weird...

#75147 Homemades Picture Thread

Posted by z80 on 04 March 2006 - 03:17 PM in Homemades

I just kinda wanted to make something as a proof of concept. I never actually use the thing in wars or anything, I just show it to my friends.
This is the bow I used.

#75139 Homemades Picture Thread

This is a Nerf bow i made out of an old children's bow.

Works pretty well, and I took of the site, ammo holders, and I added a trigger to it.

#140281 The Vulcan

Posted by z80 on 14 February 2008 - 06:26 PM in General Nerf

Is there anyone affiliated with this site in anyway that has the time on Saturday to go take pictures at Hasbro's NY Office?

Cap'n Slug's post notwithstanding (he feels it may be counterintuitive to the spirit of Nerfing, he didn't make a judgment call on the blaster itself).

He was quoting my post which was actually my own comments concerning the impracticality of my design. I'll wait to form a complete opinion when I know more about how the Vulcan actually works, but my intuition tells me that it's not going to be a terribly useful weapon for typical Nerf Wars. Like you said, geared towards the purchase motivations of the average consumer and not us.

Do you think it would require like media clearance or anything? I would consider trying to go up if I can just go right in and take pictures.

#142156 The Vulcan

Posted by z80 on 23 February 2008 - 11:53 AM in General Nerf

One wonders how much work it would take to rig a backpack car battery.

BAD IDEA. Car batteries are serious. You certainly don't need that much power, and neither lead nor sulfuric acid is fun stuff.

Except the power wouldnt be any different from a 12V battery, it just would have much longer life. Also, sulfuric acid is in the battery. As long as you arent breaking the battery apart, tis alright.
It's still a stupid Idea, a nice LiPoly battery would be cheaper, rechargable and a fuck ton lighter.

I like how like no one on NHQ has asked him to open it...
We need internals for the damned thing. I could care less about external shots.

#160081 The Vulcan

Posted by z80 on 23 June 2008 - 09:34 AM in General Nerf

Battery powered=fail.

Seriously, to get a decent amount of range you would have to add an actual "good" spring and to fire a "good" spring you would probably have to hook it up to a car battery.

This thread runs in circles. This has been discussed before...Car battery=12V, 6 C batteries=9V. Only 3V difference. Not to mention that the car battery would have too much amperage for a small electric motor to handle.
When will this thread end?

*facepalm*
Amperage is determined by the device, not the power source.
V=IR
Voltage=12 v
I is current
R is resistance of the motor. As the resistance increases, aperage decreases.

Does anyone else see two triggers on the gun? The button on the top of the grip and the actual trigger. Could one of these be the motor button and the other be the belt feed trigger?

I don't. That piece (considering the size of the blaster) looks way too high up to be easily reached by your thumb.

I agree, I think it's just for aesthetic value.
Also, I'm going to talk with my friend about going in to the city on saturday.

#88972 New Longshot Mod/integration

Posted by z80 on 04 September 2006 - 08:05 AM in Modifications

Vid

Two shots from the LS, one from the sidearm, and the last is a double shot.

Sorry for the bad quality and crappy lighting. I'll have a better vid up by tomorrow when it's light outside.

As for the brass, its not too long, it's just not shoved all the way into the barrel of the sidearm.

Thanks for all your compliments.

Oh, well if you shove if all the way in, it should improve the range even more.

#88932 New Longshot Mod/integration

That brass looks a little long, but nice nonetheless. I may try to do this to my friend's, but leave the handle and trigger mech.

#91094 Magstrike Modification.

Posted by z80 on 02 October 2006 - 07:36 PM in Modifications

I'm just throwing this out there, but in my experience, cpvc works better in plunger guns. Yes, this is a plunger gun, the air is the cocking method. I may do angles mod but relocate the trigger so I can actuate the trigger valve with a solenoid and supply air via paintball "nitro" tank.

-Butt

No it's not. The piston acts as a regulator valve.

#76513 Guide To Barrel Material

Posted by z80 on 16 March 2006 - 03:32 PM in Modifications

I would recomend the use of hollowed out crayola markers inside a length of 1/2" SCH40 PVC for guns that use stock micros.

Ive used that on my AT2k, LBB and NF. Works great with matchsticks too.

You could also mount it to a car or maybe a golf cart, then attach it to the electrical system. Looks like a nice little design, hopefully you'll make it, and blow us away.

#91165 Magstrike 20

WHOA. That is so bad ass. Seriously. Does the clip slip down at all while firing? Thats the only problem I can see. Nice Mod!

#102407 Magstrike 20

Posted by z80 on 18 April 2007 - 02:36 PM in Modifications

Yeah this thing was sight to behold. I'm going to research making my own version of the backpack, to be able to hook it up to either a magstrike or an RF20

2X working NF's

1X Sm 500

#107327 Paintball Tanks With Nerf

Posted by z80 on 23 May 2007 - 07:48 PM in Homemades

No need to pump at all. But using a gun like the Titan will empty it pretty quickly.
It is kind of large, but it's not too bulky. I can still run around easily and it doesn't weight more than 10 pounds so once it's on my back it's not very noticeable.

*Jaw Drops*
Oh my god. 2000 shots on a magstrike? That is godly. I really ought to make of these things. It is just so cool.

#285222 Nerf Stampede - Reviews & Internals Guide

Hey quick question, sorry if this has been said before, anyone know the size of the stampede sheild vs the manta ray?

#143604 Arr!

Posted by z80 on 03 March 2008 - 07:21 AM in Homemades

I've made ALOT of revisions to the design of both the gun and the valve/trigger configuration of this gun. I'm trying to simplify and reinforce everything. I don't really want to go into too much detail on what all of the changes mean, but here's the revised CAD design.
Posted Image
Will be less cramped, easier to machine, a little bit lighter, and will hopefully have a much more reliable trigger setup.

Anyone else think that that thing looks like the matilda from RE4? I like the design and look.

#260867 Deploy Cs-6 Sneak Peek

Posted by z80 on 05 January 2010 - 10:32 PM in General Nerf

Interesting, on that list the Longstrike is named the Redshift instead. Why couldn't they have colored it red rather than blue and named the retail version the Redshift? It's less confusing for everyone that way.

So, where did you find the pictures? Someone seems to have acquired and unboxed it, maybe they could be contacted?

Where does it say redshift? Maybe Im blind but where do you see that?

#79147 Angels Bbb

Posted by z80 on 08 April 2006 - 07:51 AM in Modifications

Nice job, last night, I made a spring fed version of these clips, that uses a double shot shell ejection spring. It actually works alright, now I just need to make a good bolt.

#81794 Angels Bbb

Posted by z80 on 14 May 2006 - 09:53 AM in Modifications

Well for me, the cassete clip wont fit stefans well. Also, I always use the right guard extreme gel deo, and its the perfect size. I actually mostly fixed the jamming problem by attaching a peice from an LBB barrel cut in half to cradle the first bullet. This makes the stagger less extreme, and distrbutes force better.

#81721 Angels Bbb

Posted by z80 on 12 May 2006 - 03:54 PM in Modifications

Hey, is that you lex? Its Al! I've been woring on a deo clip, but I have a problem. A lot of the time my darts became staggered and then jam. Any fixes for this?

#130168 Nerf In Popular Culture

Posted by z80 on 19 November 2007 - 04:46 PM in General Nerf

In a documentary on genetics, the scientists had a nerf war in the office on film. They pretty much all had BBB's or wildfires. Me and my friend were laughing so hard in class.

#74215 Fall '06 Blasters

Posted by z80 on 24 February 2006 - 11:17 PM in General Nerf

Yes im so happy finally a gun that is big enough for my massive 6,3 self. I am really excited about the long shot.

Good point, I'll have to tell my 6 foot 5 friend. He looks rediculous using a Maverick.

#74318 Fall '06 Blasters

Posted by z80 on 25 February 2006 - 09:28 PM in General Nerf

The Magstrike to me looks a lot like a Blastfire with a clip. Only one more shot and a little airtank/stock combo. Surely, it's going to be a hit among the community. I don't think the PC is going to go out of style though. There's going to be plenty of others that prefer 4 more shots to the stock & airtank. I know that would likely pertain to me. However, I do intend to invest in the Magstrike.

Ummm, the Magstrike holds ten bullets, not six.

#74406 Fall '06 Blasters

Posted by z80 on 26 February 2006 - 03:51 PM in General Nerf

The thing is that the maverick turret cannot be taken out a you put in another one. Thats the best part about clips.

#77473 The Snap-1 Mk2

I didn't realize it was that small, maybe I'll start this over spring break. Nice gun with good ranges, and simple. Good enough for me.

#77416 The Snap-1 Mk2

Posted by z80 on 24 March 2006 - 03:47 PM in Homemades

I might build something like this, but single shot and a large pistol. And great job, very easy to follow.
