PAS Catch Spring

19 January 2014 - 01:05 AM

Where do people find these torsion springs? I've seen both Angel and T da B's writeup and they both have huge torsion springs. The ones on McMaster all appear to have super thick gigantic wire with a ton of coils so I'm kind of at a loss. If they aren't available to purchase is there some alternative?

Longshot Bolt to Plunger Tube seal

23 September 2013 - 02:25 PM

At some point, without me noticing, the o-ring that usually does a decent job of sealing the bolt to the plunger tube got pushed up from the little groove it rides in and shredded by my brass breech. The blaster still appears to be working fine, but I'm going to be opening it up for some maintenance in a few days anyway, so I wanted to know if anyone had come up with an alternative way to seal the bolt to plunger tube connection or if anyone knows the dimensions of said o-ring.

I saw the one posted a few months ago where you line the exit hole of the plunger tube with brass to seal with the bolt but that would require me disassembling my bolt (i.e. snapping the plastic nub off and ruining my brass).

EDIT: Disregard this thread, after further thought I realized there's really no way to get anything down in that gap without disassembly.

Humans Vs Zombies: Outbreak

23 July 2013 - 11:49 PM

Not sure what the general attitude towards college-sponsored HvZ is around here, but the creators of Humans vs Zombies (and the maintainers/owners of the Humans vs Zombies name/website) are putting together a one-day war in eastern MD.

http://humansvszombies.org/outbreak

From the event webpage:

When: September 14, 2013 from 10AM – Nightfall
Where: Robinhood Paintball – 2429 Old Robinhood Rd, Havre de Grace, MD 21078

How Much:
Now – July 31 – $35
August 1-30 – $45
September 1-7 – $50
September 8-13 – $55
There will be limited registration at door.

We'll provide bandanas, socks, and limited blasters. Please feel free to bring your own.

Judging solely by the number of fans on the HvZ facebook page, I'd say its very likely that at least several hundred people will attend. Their chosen venue is a paintball facility in the area. I've been there and know for a fact that it should be pretty insane depending on how they choose to lay out the boundaries. They will be charging to attend though, obviously to cover the costs of renting the whole paintball facility. Pricing is $35 until the end of July and will go up every few weeks to a max of $55 (a little iffy on this price point myself). I will probably try to contact the admins and see how restrictive they plan to be on blasters, as bone stock is a definite no-go for me. Would be cool to see some of the NIC come out to show the college kids a thing or two.

A Clip for Elite Darts?

22 March 2013 - 12:50 AM

So after realizing that Doomsayers just weren't meant to work with stock darts, I singled mine and set out to recreate AssassinNF's old mod for the PAS. I made 2 attempts and they both failed because of ridiculous resistance and friction that I couldn't fix. :(

So now I wonder, since elite darts don't have the plastic stem in them that made streamlines suck ass, shouldn't it be possible to use them in a hopper, inline clip, or rscb? I figure you can, but after wasting roughly $25 in brass on shitty breeches I was hoping someone had written up a new clip solution for elite darts here recently. I really can't stand to waste more money on unproven ideas (my own ideas) unfortunately. Anyone know of one?

Shrinking stock darts?

20 February 2013 - 09:09 AM

I have a Doomsayer that I'm required to use stock darts with for HvZ. It has 17/32" brass barrels which are obviously the optimal springer fit around elite streamlines, however, most darts are slightly (maybe a mm or two) too large to push into the barrels from behind by hand. So, my question is, is there an established way to slightly shrink stock darts, or does anybody have a method for doing so?
