Spider-man 3 Foam Missile Launcher

07 December 2010 - 03:51 PM

Posted Image

I've never seen this before and I can't find much info about it. the best info I could find was from some amazon reviews.
At first I thought it would be handy to be able to rebarrel the missle launcher on the top for micros, but according to this their just stomp rockets

Not to sound completely like an idiot, but when I ordered it, I thought that he would be able to shoot the missiles from the gun as well. Not so. The missiles are a part of a stomp rocket which you remove from the gun and just stomp them 20 feet into the air.

I almost lost interest in this blaster completely but then one of the comments suggested that the blaster uses mega darts

The darts are quite large too - not like the Nerf ones which are small and flimsy, eventually bending from use. These are fatter, thicker, and longer

This would suggests good mod potential, if anyone wants one there are some ebay listings in the UK for as low a 10 euros without shipping.

Stock Darts In Longer Than Stock Barrels

27 October 2010 - 09:29 AM

I play Humans vs Zombies on my campus and my campus rules dictate that we can only use stock darts with unmodified tips, and I have a blaster that uses longer than stock barrels and it wont achieve good range unless I use streamlines but of course streamlines can be extremely inaccurate, so I experimented with ways to improve the range of my taggers and whistler darts and came up with this

it doesn't get as much range as my streamlines, but it's a very great improvement compared to the dart alone.

also let me know if this has been done before

Ar Removal Tool

28 August 2010 - 05:14 PM

hey guy I last night I thought of a way to remove air restrictors without taking apart blasters
I made a video that should explain everything (sorry about the bad quality I had to use my cell phone, I'll try to get some photos later)
I apologize if this has already been thought of, let me know what you think

Overhaul Mod On Secretstrike

09 April 2010 - 12:19 PM

I already posted this on spudfiles here, and I was hoping to finish a auto-loading system before I posted this but I'm not sure if that will be happening anytime soon, so here it is
I'm trying to get a video of it shooting but my phone's media card is corrupted
anyways here's what it looks like

as you can see it has a marker barrel and the chamber has been extended with a 1/8" nipple and some 1/2"cpvc, and receives air pressure from an external source
performance: I'm using a small air tank and this thing gets plenty of shots between fills, it's extremely effective providing great performance with only a small amount of air consumption. I'm using stock darts and hitting just shy of the 50' mark at only 20psi.

I'm with Doom on QEV valves, they are perfect for nerf. the most beneficial factor for a valve used in a pneumatic nerf gun is opening speed, and there's a reason why they don't call QEVs slow exhaust valves. however I have to admit a decent qev and 3way control valve can be expensive, so you might want to try this as a cheaper alternative it might not be as good but it cost ~$5 to make

here's a diagram on how it works, but if you don't know how the secret strike works then you'd better check this out first
this is what it looks like in the closed/filling position

and this is when it's open/firing

so here are some pictures of the construction, I'll try to add more pictures of parts and better instructions later

if you cut enough off and maybe heat the plastic a little it should clip on just fine Posted ImagePosted Image

The Secretstrike Internals Revealed

02 April 2010 - 04:46 PM

Hey guys, you might have unscrewed the cover of your secretstrike only to find one big piece of plastic wondering what it looks like on the inside.

using the some of the knowledge that I've gained from this forum I figured out enough to carefully start butchering my secretstike for my next project, and now that I'm almost done I have seen enough to know what most of it looks like, so I've drawn several diagram that I hope can be a useful resource for anyone looking to know what the inside of their secretstrike looks like. they go into detail so hopefully anyone can understand even if they don't know about back-pressure valves (aka piston valves).

here's the diagram overlapped with a photo of the internals (taken from the internals directory Courtesy of Gengar003)

here's a link to some other versions

here's a diagram for how the valve works

and a diagram for how the lower parts work

notice that the check valve uses a rather unique design, the same concept appears to be used in the main valve's piston to prevent the air from the chamber from exiting thought the push button trigger valve. As I have heard that's a major problem in other back-pressure valve foam blasters such as Lanard's sonic bazooka, this piston design would explain why the secretstrike seams to not have those malfunctions
