Christmas Clash

01 December 2007 - 12:15 AM

Alright, I figured I should start this because I'm itching for a war, and ILNO looks like it won't happen soon.

Can we find a date during winter breaks? Break at Wheaton North goes Dec. 22 to Jan. 6, so most dates in there would probably work. I've got wrestling and such, but I should be able to show for a war, at most a little late.

Is Herrick Lake going to be the spot again? There's another park on the north end of Wheaton, aptly named Northside Park. I think this would be a good spot to play, but we'll decide that later.

Hows this sound for the IL guys (and other people that can come?)

Rapid Fire Rifle Mod

17 February 2007 - 05:49 PM

Ok guys, this is my first contribution to NH. I've had my Rapid Fire Rifle for about 6 months, and was disappointed by the magazine and shell system. I've always thought single loading bolt-action rifles were cool, so I decided to gut the shell system from it and just use the breech the RFR has. This is a pseudo- writeup, because I've run into a few problems.

Writeup first.
(My digital camera sucks, so the pictures aren't great)

What you need:
RFR
File/sharp knife/dremel
1/2 CPVC
3/4 CPVC
Electrical tape
Screwdriver
Saw

I first did joeyalgr444's lever-to-bolt action mod.

From there, I opened it up, and took out some of the guts. The orange tip is glued on, but I just cut it off.

After that, unscrew the screws on the barrel and open it up. Inside there is the pieces for the shell ejection mechanism. Take those out and get rid of them. On the inside of each half of the barrel are two little plastic pieces. File/dremel/cut those out of there however you can. The barrels should look like this afterwards.Posted Image

After that, take about a foot of 1/2 CPVC and 3/4 CPVC. Wrap e-tape on each of the ends of the 1/2 CPVC about a half of an inch from the cut so it will stay stable in the 3/4 CPVC.

slide the 1/2 CPVC into the 3/4 CPVC, and hot glue both ends. Once it dries, slide it into the barrel half that has the housing for the ejection mechanism. should look like this.

After that, take out the plunger. It has an ok spring, but I added a CF spring to it too. To get at the spring, you have to pull out a little pin at the base of the plunger. I didn't get a pic of this, but its fairly easy to do.

Once that is done, put everything back where it was, and screw it back together. Don't forget to hotglue the new barrel to the old one so it doesn't move around. Done, for now. I painted mine black, too.

Now onto the problems.

The darts dont leave the barrel. I'm not sure if there is any way to make this happen, or not. I may redo the barrel setup, or try to turn the plunger around so it gets a more direct airflow. That, or gut it entirely and put a At2K airtank in there. I didn't have very high hopes for this gun when I started. The writeup is for anyone who wants to try this out and improve on it.

Longshot Trouble

13 February 2007 - 05:09 PM

I've modded my LS as per Carrtoon's mod, and it works well, but there are a few problems.

1. The clip goes in hard. I have to slam it into the receiver and I don't want to break my clips.
2. The bolt won't pull back after firing unless the magazine is pushed as far forward as it can be in the magazine well.

Other than that, it's working fine. ~50 foot range and good accuracy with a CDTS.

Any help?
