Question about airgun fittings

27 March 2014 - 09:15 PM

Hi all,
In my endeavors to try to make (maybe) the greatest airgun ever(writeup incoming) I have seen several threads and builds, and they all use push-to-connect fittings such as 9087K144 or 9087K81 as the cost of my mcmaster order quickly skyrocketed, I started to look for a cheaper alternative. I found these barbed tube fittings (5463K38 and 5463K45). With these fittings you can get ten of them for the price of 1 or 2 push-to-connect ones, so my question is why have I never seen anyone use these fittings before? Am I missing something? Is it because they do not seal properly/require glue or other adhesive?
Thanks in advance for all the help!

Any nerfers in or around the amarillo,Tx area/texas panhandle?

28 January 2014 - 04:02 PM

My friends and I are looking to organize some wars, but we don't have enough people. 4 of us(me included) have Homemades, a few more have good stock guns. Even if you don't have Homemades or NIC worthy stuff go ahead and post so we know you're out there.
Thanks!

Stryfe problems

13 December 2013 - 06:03 PM

So I received my first stryfe mod commission and I was excited to play around with it. It ran fine with AA batteries, so I went ahead and slapped 3 ultrafires and a dummy battery inside it. It was running perfectly fine. I fired of one or two 18 dart clips when it suddenly sputtered off and on then completely stopped working. I put in some AA batteries again and still no luck. I then opened it up hoping to see something obvious, but no dice. Please help me!!!!

Benefits of Tapping?

16 October 2013 - 04:47 PM

Hello NerfHaven!
I have made 2 homemades in my days(yes im a bit of a nub), but I have recently noticed that every writeup ive seen calls for a tap(or even more than one) to use on your drilled holes. However, when gathering parts, of course a tap was present, but my dad (who is a mechanical engineer) said that a tap is not really necessary as PVC is soft enough that simply putting a screw in will cut threads. So what are the benefits of using one? There is probably a very simple and obvious reason that I am not seeing, and I hope you will be easy on my n00biness...

Thanks
