I put 6" PETG barrel on my NightFinder and when I fire the Stefan ( I use the Gray FBR ) it go's like 15' and swivels in mid-air. How come? Here are the things I did to my NF:

AR's removed.
DoubleShot spring replaced the original spring.
PETG barrel

Any one know what is wrong? I would be thankful if some one could tell me whats wrong.

That barrel is way too long. Also, your stefans are probabally not weighted enough.

How long should the barrel be? I use two BBs in 2" Stefans.

DoubleShot spring replaced the original spring.

Woah. There's one of your problems. The Double Shot's spring is way smaller than the Nf's. Qui'lan fett named the rest of the problems.

Edit: my barrel is 2 inches long.

Really? The plunger seems to move faster with it then the original spring. Of course that just might be me. I put some plastic in the back of the spring so that the spring wouldn't move out of the plunger.

With the 2" barrel how far does your Stefans go?

Actually, I am pretty sure the DS spring is better than a NF spring. Have you ever tried to cock a DS without the Pulleys?

It might be bigger. Tonight I'll take a picture of both of them side-by-side. We will see.

Also in making your stefans, use only one BB. I use BBs in my darts and at first I used 3. i could never get them center so my darts sucked. Use only one BB and put it in the exact center of the head.

What kind of BB's are you using. Airsoft BB's don't work.

Any barrels on Nitefinders more then 4" will start to make the ranges worse.

Size means nothing. Its the strength of the spring. The DS spring is more powerful. Also, you need to make sure your darts have a good fit in PETG.

Well, within reasonable boundaries that's true, but not necessarily in all circumstances.
I've had problems like this. It's usually one, or both of these problems; the barrel is too long, or the stefan doesn't fit properly. First, I would try making the barrel shorter (try 4" first, than 3"), if that doesn't work, try CPVC as your barrel material. Also, try lubricating the plunger, and make sure that you have a good seal. If all of that doesn't work, put the stock spring back in.
If all of this doesn't help, then I have no idea what's wrong.

I have no idea what I was thinking. I realized this when I was taking the picture of them. Sorry for questioning you Dayko. Just look at the LS spring and Maxshot spring.

With the 2" barrel how far does your Stefans go?

Apperently I was wrong about my barrel. It's actually almost 3 inches. Not sure about my Stefans, but my Taggers go about 60 feet (official ranges when it's not dark out)

The BBs I use are made by CopperHead and they are copper coated BBs. They have no size on the bottle but they are small. The Stefans fit loosely in the PETG.

Among other things, the loose fit of your stefans may be the biggest problem. In spring guns such as the NF, pressure must build, and then reach a breaking point to where the dart starts moving. This kind of fit is not ideal for pump guns, because they release air fast in moderate volumes and there is no need fro such pressure build. Try this, cxwq's explanation.

Wow. For people saying that the barrel is way too long, an extra 3-5 inches isn't going to drop your range from 60 feet to 15 feet.

Barrel length is important, but it's not going to completely destroy ranges if you're a few inches off.

The most important thing here is probably dart/barrel fit and seal issues.
