I think you can do Ghost Recon XBOX lan parties... though I could be wrong. But yea, Halo is pretty badass. Even if it only took me two weeks to beat it. After preordering and getting the Rainbow Six 3 demo however... I'm wondering which is my favorite.

I'll put it this way. The original Rainbow Six games sucked horribly. It was too much stealth, too much planning. The casual gamer could not pick it up and have fun. So, from what I've gotten from the demo and fallen in love with, I'll say this... Rainbow Six 3 is going to be best blend of action/stealth ever. Their are times when you have to shoot every mofo in the room, and sometimes when you have to make calculated maneuvers (which is the easiest thing in the world).

There are no in-game menus like the originals. Everything is on the fly, point and click simplicity. Which gets the job done surprisingly well.

The game has successfully created an "action/sim" for the special forces genre. If that makes any sense. The guns all feel real. The explosions rock. And capping a terrorist point blank in the face in a 4 foot by 4 foot stuffy staircase has never been as fun. Let me just say that an M4 to the face isn't pretty. :P

(Note: RS III runs on the Splinter Cell engine, making the lighting effects dramatic and realistic)

I'm sorry I just went entirely off topic. Please forgive me.

Doom III is coming out for PS2, that looks pretty badass. It is extremely realistic. There are parts when you walk into a new room, you might have to cross the room in the dark to flip the light switch on. And when you point your gun up and shoot a hanging lamp, it will spin and move, causing the lighting in the area to shift. Too bad I have a freaking Xbox :P

Yea Ghost Recon for PS2 does suck, or so I've heard. But the XBox version owns. And as for Doom III, I think you're a little mixed up Daedarus, because Doom III is XBox and PC only. No PS2. There's no doubt that the PS2 wouldn't be able to handle it.

I personally think Halo sucks ass. I mean, everything is just screwy and out of proportion~ the controls suck no matter what setting I put, the amount of shots to kill is completely different from any other fps, etc.

Goldeneye would own Halo anyday.

Btw, there are some more games for XBox that allows 16-player gaming.

dude are you retarded? no seriously. halo is so much sweeter than goldeneye. i will gie goldeneye props for being the best in it's day but halo is way better. as for first player missoins on halo i think they get a little boring kind of fast but still whenevere you ahve 4 or more people it owns.

Evil-i think only two can play ghost recon on xbxox at once so to do an lan hookup couldn't you only have 8 rather than 16. either way it would prolly be cool.

No, you can have for people on Ghost Recon XBOX. My friend has it and we've played with 3 people on it, that leaves a chance for 4 player.

Doh! My fault, Evil, I was mixing that up with another Dead To Rights II. DTR 2 looks like possibly the best shooter I have ever seen (I just saw it in my Game Informer today, a small preview was in the one last month). You can do combo's in melee battle, and can also fight hand-to-hand with a number of moves. They re-engineered the diving system, so now you will always dive and stay facing your enemy (Max Payne comes to mind when you dive right past opponents). Jack Slate will contort is body to help his aiming (Ex: arching his back while diving backwards, etc..). Also, you can control his Husky/Malamute/Wolf dog mix: Shadow, and have the poochy attack men and then drag them around a corner. But that game is coming out for the PS2, not Doom III. Although I am pretty sure that Doom III is coming out for PC only.

Edit: Mystic, I am going to have to side with Stevo on this one. Though Goldeneye was awesome for it's time, it is outdated. Comparing it to Halo is like comparing a scooter to a Harley.

Halo is probably the most badass games on x-box. I have beaten almost every level on legendary at least three times.(other than The Library for obvious reasons) Ghost Recon is a pretty good game but it's only fun when you have more than yourself playing.

No, a better analogy is a pedal-bicycle compared to a motor-cycle. They were created during 2 different times at the peak of their engineering potential for that era. However, both creations still have their uses these days. If you want to move fast and have the cool image, get a lowrider, or a rice rocket. If you want to just have a cheap, dependable mode of transportation to enjoy the simple pleasure of riding, get a bicycle.

In the same sense, Halo is a -great- game, I love it. The AI is great for 2 player Campaigns, fun gameplay there. The graphics are still nice even though the game has been out for a while. More importantly, there are some levels, Blood Gulch for Capture the Flag in particular, that are perfect for 16 player matches. If you have access to 4 X-Boxes/TVs and a hub, Halo is great. However, Golden Eye, and also in my eyes, Perfect Dark, are a classic piece of console FPS that will never get old. Once you learn how to throw remote mines and detonate them by smashing the A+B buttons together, you never forget that pleasure. Just like riding a bike. :)

My multiplayer character in Perfect Dark has a saved time of over 5 days of gaming on it. 5 x 24 hours. Think about it! The ability to add bots to fight against is an obvious advantage over Halo, not to knock Halo or anything. Your friends will eventually get sick of you losing them like pigeons on a telephone wire with the pistol, or smacking them silly with the RCP90 or the Mauler. The Challenge levels still have me stuck on the final level, after so many hours of playing them with my friends.

So, my point is that though obviously the technology has changed greatly in console FPS gaming over the past, what, 5 years- there are still some fun times to be had playing old school cartridges. Fun that can't be replaced by 16 flavours of colorful Master Chiefs running around on the screen with no jaggies. Can your Halo character be a secretary's body with a giant grey alien head? I think not.

Dude, you don't wanna know my Perfect Dark stats. The number of head shots is almost obscene. As for Mystic's distaste for Halo, it's obvious that he must suck at the game itself, otherwise... there's no reason for such uncommon animosity. Anyone agree?

Yeah guys, my Perfect Dark stats saved on Evil's controller pack (I never owned the game) is pretty scary.

As for Goldeneye, that game still kicks ass, we can still play it I'm sure. If Halo gets stale and we're running low on Dew, I bet Goldeneye would be perfect.
I agree with the bike-motorcycle analogy.

Bah! I played that halo garabage last saturaday for the first time. I can't beleive people use controlers for shooting games. I can't understand why anyone would have the patience for that! Unless its autoaim (which sorta kills multiplayer) console first person shooters are like trying to milk a greased pig with your toes. I don't know why you would try it, but I'm sure its really hard.

halo is one of those games that if you suck at it then it is no fun at all. i know that the firsttie i played with my friends that they had already been playing for months and i was instantly created as their bitch in that game. but now, i can actually hold my own and it is beyond sweet.

Seems more sensible then controlling someone with 35 buttons. Halo is out for PC anyways.

Not really, the key is in the mouse. Nothing on a console controller gives you the same amount of control over your aim as a mouse does. It would be completely unfair if people on consoles were to play people on pcs in a fps. While you were trying to center your aim on someone's torso, the pc player would end up shooting you and half your team in the head.

I think there is a big diversity. My friend plays Quake Online all the time, but sucks at TimeSplitters 2 on PS2. I tried playing the PC game, and was anhilliated.

I think Halo sucks. Even if I win, I think the same.

Of course, if anyone played with my friend, 1v1 Slayer 5 for one game, just one, they'll just not play anymore... Yeah...

I think Goldeneye is overall better than Halo. Of course, its graphics aren't that good due to being on an older platform, and neither are the missions, but the gameplay, controls, and multiplayer all own Halo's.

Starsiege Tribes (1, 2, and AS) are also better than Halo, Tribes 1 was the best, it owned all other FPSs in multiplayer, especially with the ability to add on mods and get cool stuff like Interceptors flying at a bjillion mph.

Exactly, while I played CS and Soldier of Fortune for 2 years and are rather competant at it when I got halo last year I sucked for about a month, now I beat the guys for Electronic Gaming Monthly at online games.
