stock dart goes i duno 60 feet guessing and stefan goes about 45. what works the best in cpvc? how long, what weights...

and i bet some mod is gonna get mad at me cause i should have used a sticky or search or something but yeah i cant find it plus i need info for a specific gun so yeah

A mod going to get mad because you type like shit!

Try making the darts 2 inches and center the weight, buy PETG from OMC.

How long is the CPVC?

Did you ramrod it?

How long are they?

Ok to prevent being banned from a forum I will have to put my grammar to work. :)

The CPVC is around 5 inches but I only put the stefan in far enough so that the whole thing is in.

Ramrod? I don't think so because I don't even know what that means.

The stefans are 1.5 inches. Half an inch in diameter.

They aren't really cut straight and the holes and weights (BB's) probably aren't centered. I'm also not sure how dense it is cause I don't have anything to compare it to. I bought it from Menard's and I think the brand is "Caulksav'r"

Laughing out loud, this is really akward having to type in proper english on the internet.

Nice.

Make them 2 inches, make your barrel anywhere from 3.5-5 inches, and ramroding is when you use a rod to ram the dart down the barrel.

And center the weights, make sure the hot glue isn't going over the sides either.

Thanks, I'll try that.

I'll think of some way to cut it straight, but when I burn a hole in the FBR, it's hard to tell where the center of it is and I end up missing the center. I'm not too good at gluing a dome either. I guess I'll cut down the barrel a bit too.

Also, does ramrodding make it go better?

----------------------------------------------

I may know why this isn't working. I couldn't find 9/16" or 17/36" CPVC, PVC, PETG, brass or copper pipes. Actually I couldn't find any pipes of that length. I looked at Menards and Home Depot. Oh yeah, I bought 1/2". Well I noticed the stock darts do fit a lot easier in there than the stefans. With the stefans, I have to twist and push it in so it'll fit. Could this be the problem?

PLEASE ANSWER

I had this same problem until I acctually took the time to make good stefans. I had really bad tips, the ends were cut poorply and half of them didn't straighten properly. I then sat down and took the time to refine my craft and am not producing fairly high quality stefans that shoot MUCH farther than any stock dart. But you really need to do them right.

For a women analogy, you can't just jam some weight in there and fill it with glue, you really gotta want to make it good. You wouldn't just do it half assed then call it a day, so don't do the same with darts.

On a side not, I suggest getting cookie tins to hold darts. I have 4 or 5 filled with all my darts (Megas, Micros, Shotguns, and my absolutely weird 9/16" darts) but they work better than cardboard for me because I have dogs. They ate my cardboard box with darts, but thankfully not the darts.

Stock darts fit nicely in the 1/2 inch pvc sch 40.

Shoving a dart down a barrel is a sign that you need to buy some forsaken angel 24 fbr (foam backer rod (I saw your post count))and some omc petg (one man clan (I made that mistake)).

I have seen about, umm 25+ different happy customers post that have used them together successfully.

If you want to stay local, bring a stefan to a hardware store, have them measure it (because, you probably left them in the dryer/pillowcase too long so they enlarged to a diameter bigger than the id of your tubing!), and see what they can do.

*sorta off topic*
I have found my local Ace hardware is a small store with a million parts and one really nice elderly man that runs the joint. He is the king of all tubing and fbr (bought some fbr and pvc from a supplier for me for no restocking price!).

Oh, and by the way, welcome to the Haven.

That's definitely giggle-worthy. You don't have to type out the meaning of an acronym/abbreviation, but do try to avoid AIM-Speak...just an FYI. As you stated in your original post, yes - you should have probably done a little more digging before posting a topic with a title that basically says all the ammo we've been using as a standard for many years "arent good."

And like it's been said before, making good ammo takes time and practice (also trial and error). You can find methods for straightening and weighting your Stefans, but a hands-on approach is probably the best method. Also, getting a high-quality foam that fits your barrel is something that definitely helps, too. I've become such a dart snob that I only use Forsaken's foam and mostly darts made by OMC because I'm tired of lining up a shot on someone only to have the dart fishtail or fall 40 feet short of where it's supposed to go.

Also, does ramrodding make it go better?

For snug darts, ramrodding is when you have to take a stick and press the dart to the back of the barrel. It's beneficial because if your barrel is the proper length (more trial and error, but there are guidelines to follow), you'll want to use the entire length for accuracy. Also, having the rear of the dart as close to the plunger as possible will increase your range - "dead space" between the plunger and the dart reduces range.

Welcome to the Haven, and thanks for the effort on your grammar. It's not like the rest of the Internet, but then again, neither is NerfHaven.

If your Nitefinder has a very good seal though, you can put your stefan just to the top. Then pull back the gun and it should vacuum it back to the back of the barrel. This prevents having to use a ramrod. Just make sure you have a good plunger seal.

added that hilarious quote to my signature, while playing with my butthole.Would have been funnier if he said hole.

Anyway,go with Six.But if you are going to use something like a 2k or a high-powered air gun in general, like that with grizzly-stopping power,go with a loose fit. Like, say, use PVC if you are going to use stock darts. It has to slide in easily, and exit easy.Ew.

...thing happens to mine sometimes, stick your finger in the barrel to make it air tight, then pump a couple times to re-close it... If that doesnt work then you have to open it up and pull the rod back. For me I have to pump 55 and I get a shot that can break through soft wood, consistantly.-rokor

It could also be that your stefans are too tight in your barrel. If that's the case, try stretching them a little.

I think stefans are excellent.
I shoot a stock dart or tagger with my modded NF, it goes around 40 feet.
When I use a stefan, it shoots around 55+ feet.
