Picked up some 3/8 inch FBR the other day and was wondering if anyone had experiance with this. It would take a smaller barrel so the muzzle velocity should be increased but does this get close to the point where it's dangerous and no one would want to get hit by it? Any advice would be appreciated.

Yes.

Frost Vectron, Frost Vectron, and Frost Vectron.

I've considered making a multibarreled "pepperbox" like gun, using thin brass tubes that the FBR fits into, however that would cost a shitload.

A pepperbox would be a neat idea. It would have to be a fairly short range weapon, you only get one shot but if you miss with a pepperbox at short range then you have other problems. Could you get away with 4 inch barrels? That way you could get three barrels out of a foot and would only need 3 feet for a 9 barrel (3 by 3) pepper box. You need about 2 foot to brass a 4 barrel SM 1500 and the brass would cost less per foot so it wouldn't be too bad costwise. It would look pretty impressive looking down the barrels though.

Edit: I went to the hobby store and the appropriate brass was 1.99 per foot so it would be $6 worth of brass for 9 4inch barrels, not bank breaking at any rate.

I had some 3/8 darts that worked well in the 1/2 inch CPVC... had to embed a plastic bead in the darts to make them a bit wider, creating a tighter seal. Recently, though, the company that makes the 3/8 FBR reduced its diameter by about 1 mm.... now it doesn't work... i can't make any more of them... but it got maybe 70-80 feet level.... surpising for a dart w/ a plastic bead weight and hot glue on the end (parents won't let me use lead). fired it from my BBB..... i'm gettin a maxshot this weekend... wish i could make more to use wit that...

You could always wrap a little electrical tape around the dart tip to get a good seal. It's not quite the same but will work in a pinch.

Excuse me, but what is a pepper box? It sounds like a bringer of death.

FBR is Foam Backer Rod. You make darts with it.

And a pepper box is just that, a gun with many barrels, so that it shoots all of them at the same time, increasing accuracy. You can't miss with one from short range.

I've actually been toying around with turning a super soaker into a pepper box. It's got plenty of air and with a pepperbox you only get one shot so the long prime time isn't a big deal. To get air to the appropriate barrels I was going to use some tubing from the hardware store. Additionally this design could be modular with a 3x3 standard configuration but I'd use velcro so I could change it around depending on how I wanted it to spread.

My only super soaker is pretty large so I'll be looking for a smaller one pretty soon. I did see one that had two air tanks but I think they just worked as one, should have picked that up and worked a switch between them in order to get two super soaker shots in a war.
