So, I don't normally plug stuff like this, but this is definitely worth mentioning and sharing with everyone. Spanky, Crankymonky and several others have been busy over at NHQ creating a fully-functional Nerf Wiki for our community.
http://www.nerfhq.co...title=Main_Page
I highly encourage everyone to register and add to it, as it is not only a great cataloging tool for the community, but a potential wealth of information for those who are just starting or interested in our hobby / community.
For those of you who are unfamiliar with what a Wiki is, it is essentially a user-driven encyclopedia. Users are allowed to create pages, add, edit and correct the information on every page. Big props to Cranks, Spanky, and others that have been working diligently on this.

EDIT: wow groove that is pretty intense. That's way cooler then I thought it would be. We can end up making a really well-written wiki here if everyone works together.

Plus, there is a full page on Evil and no one has written about Vacc yet! I know you guys are still working on it, it just seems kinda funny though.

I don't really undestand why General Cole is making articles of clothing with my name on it. First it frightened me, but after a few hours I got over it. It seems obvious that General Cole is hoping to have sex with me.

Well, you have to note that, well, it is more of a NHQ site...note the logo at the top left... I think it can be good, but everyone needs equal input.
Oh, really? I would have never guessed... although... The fact that it's hosted on NHQ might just have been a hint.
Don't call it a comeback, I never left.

Why is this surprising? I really don't think anyone should be writing about anyone but themselves. Anyone agree? Since Vacc isn't on NHQ at all, and not even on NH that much, it's not surprising that he doesn't have a page up yet.
Just my .02 - I'll be putting notes in whenever I see fit I guess.

The important thing to remember here (six-five-two) is that this is a group effort - large emphasis on the group; not the responsibility of those programming it or setting it up. I'm pretty sure there's security precautions/backup files in the instance a troll or someone decides to give misinformation or decide to substitute every other word with "gay" or the ever-so-popular "nerf is for fags."

Good idea, except I bet some stupid paintballer, bb gun person will just go there and vandalize everything.
As Groove said, we have a variety of methods currently enabled to restore data.
Well, you have to note that, well, it is more of a NHQ site...note the logo at the top left... I think it can be good, but everyone needs equal input.
This is by no mean limited to NerfHQ members! To register, you don't even need to be a member of the NerfHQ forum. What would lead you think question the equality of everyone's input? All users except myself, Spanky, and Diablo currently have equal rights on the wiki. However, due to the method of comparing changes, should someone delete a knowledgeable member's post and replace it with garbage, any logged in user could click compare changes and revert back to the original. If that isn't equal input, I don't know what is.
However, don't expect false information to be tolerated. I expect as people more frequently browse all the pages, we will get many checks on each page, as many members have a wealth of knowledge.
For any questions about the wiki, feel free to post here, on NerfHQ, or AIM/PM me.

Edit: I just edited the hell out of the Big List Of Nerfers which was not formatted yet. For now (just a few days) it's not going to get openly edited, as with a few of the other pages. Pending conversations with cranky, spanky, and groove, I'm going to be writing up some templates to aide you in putting your own code in.
For the time being, I suggest you read up on the Wikipedia language at http://en.wikipedia....kitext_examples.
Edit 2: A more concise version of the above link can be found here http://en.wikipedia....edia:Cheatsheet.

Edit: Just a trivial note - there is a difference between an acronym and an abbreviation. Acronyms are abbreviations that you pronounce as a word - SWAT stands for Special Weapons And Tactics and is generally said Swat(as in, swat the fly), not S-W-A-T, therefore, it is an acronym. Now, not all abbreviations are acronyms though - LAPD stands for Los Angeles Police Department, and rarely do I hear lapped(as in, he lapped me in the race), but usually it's said L-A-P-D. We want the Wiki to come off as professional(IMO) as possible, so it might be best to use the correct terminology.

This would make an easy graphical way to look at guns and their mods.
However you will need permission from Orange to use his pictures and even then, you should be nice to Orange and host the pictures yourself. (can you upload pictures to the wiki?)
Well that is my 2 cents, I like it so far.

Well the thing that would make this wiki really usefully would be combining Orange's Nerf Pictures with the blaster list descriptions and then include links to Nerfhaven (or NerfHQ) to the different mods at the bottom.

At the moment, no one can upload photos to the wiki, and there is no plan to change it.
We do have an (empty) modifications directory and combining that with the nerf gun list seems to be a great idea. How do you propose we do it though, as guns have multiple mods.
And remember, put your recommendations in the To-Do List should you not have the time or the know how to do it at the moment.

When you create an account on the Wiki, first make your userpage. To do this click your user name in the top left. It should be a red link. Proceed by adding links to your profile pages on NH, NHQ, and any other forums you belong to with the following code:
[http://nerfhaven.com...hp?showuser=839 NerfHaven] - this will produce Wiki code that links to my profile page with the text of "NerfHaven"
[http://www.nerfhq.co...=profile;u=1311 NerfHQ] - goes to my NHQ page
As you can see the syntax is fairly simple: [%URL% %SITE NAME%]. Just insert it along with your regular text and you should be good.
Next, go to the Big List Of Nerfers (Search: "BLON"). Find your name on the list and edit it to the following( less quotes ):
"* [User:%YOUR WIKI USERNAME%|%YOUR FORUM USERNAME%]"
This will link to your user page which in turn will link to your forum profiles. This is probably the best way of getting people to either of your forum profiles.

I think it's fun to read all the stories about people. Maybe I'm just geeking out a lot, but I've enjoyed setting down the entries for both my clan and myself. It's fun to play around with.
