I did this mod a month or so back, but I've finally found time to post it. I haven't been able to mod at all, being away from home for college and all.

Anyways, here's a mod straight from the hard drive.

The gun is called the Professional by a small company named Airzone (it was kind of like buzzbee or lanard back in Max Force days). Thanks to orange for helping me identify the gun.

It's a small pump-operated pistol. The mod is simply a barrel replacement. All that is needed is 1/2" CPVC (or barrel material of your choice), adhesive of your choice (hot glue will do fine), a phillips screwdriver, and a flat-head screwdriver.

First we open the sucker up. Take out the fake magazine in the handle and take off the orange pumping slide (two screws).

Posted Image

The area under the barrel is glued together, so use the flathead screwdriver to pry apart the shells and break the glue. If it doesn't work, you could use an x-acto knife to cut away at the glue until you can separate the gun. Beware when removing screws--they are different sizes. Be sure to remember where the large and small screws go, or just leave them in the case like I do.

Posted Image

Here are the internals. Notice how the pump is reversed from normal nerf guns (so you can use the orange slide to pump it from the back).

Posted Image

It also seems like there is no overpressure valve. My thought is that since the pump is so small, it can't hold much pressure anyways--or the overpressure valve is located somewhere else? I'm not entirely certain about this.

Posted Image

So onto the barrel replacement. The stock barrel just pulls right out of the air delivery area (similar to how the stock NF barrel just comes off the plunger chamber). The air restrictor is inside the stock barrel, so you don't have to worry about removing any additional air restrictors. Now glue/goop/epoxy your replacement barrel right onto the end of the airtank, making sure it is straight. I used a piece of leftover 1/2" CPVC from another project.

Posted Image

Lay the internals back in place and we're done. Close up the gun.

Not related to the mod, I think this was interesting about the gun:

Anyhow, here is the overall gun with barrel:

Posted Image

It now gets range in the low 40's (flat range). It's not very high, but it's a very small and cool-looking pistol. The accuracy is great, so long as the barrel is put on there level. Experimentally, it seems that 6-7 pumps is optimal because the pumps are so short and tiny. Enjoy.

That's pretty cool, I always like to see unknown or underrated guns get writeups. That orange piece looks pretty big, is it all air-tank?

EDIT -- I vote Frost Vectron and Renegade Contributors for 08'

How big is the gun in comparison to, say, a magstrike? Is the plastic good, or cheap? Nice mod.

The gun itself is tiny. It's smaller than a Nitefinder.

The air tank is medium sized, but it doesn't get great pressure. I am guessing that the pump could be improved somehow or there is an overpressure valve somewhere in there. If that could be addressed, then ranges should improve by quite a bit.

The plastic is of high quality (equal to Nerf brand blasters). This gun is quite old--the year on it is 1998.

Very nice barrel replacement. For the size of the air tank that is a really good range. Its nice to look at it eve thought ill probally never get my hands on one though.

Frost, you never cease to amaze me with your mods. Always functional, sweet, and they involve random guns. We share many of the same nerf-ideals. Great job.

Hmm.... I would think that you could put a far longer barrel on there... The air-tank looks fair sized. is there really no OP? When I first saw the picture I was thinking that perhaps if there was too much pressure it would escape under the O-ring via those little slits. Awsome mod though, I always enjoy reading your work.

That gun looks awesome and must have been fun to work with. I love the fake clip being able to hold a couple of darts. Shit like that scores big points for me. Nice write up. It will be under the Unknown Misc guns section.

Thanks guys.

I'm at a loss on how to add more to its power. I do like it as-is, though. It's a nice little pistol that reminds me of the "roleplay" feel (I guess the same way Scouts appeal to people).

I might play around with a more suitable barrel material (CPVC seems overly tight). I'm not really sure how this thing deals with overpressure though. If I could find out how, that would be helpful.

A switch in barrel material would probably get you a few more feet. Maybe consider switching this gun to nanos to get some more distance.

Amazing! Frost, you've done it again! THAT would be so helpful in a war. It is weird that there is no OP valve though.

Hmm, the assembly reminds me a bit of the SM1500 but its hard to say for sure without a size/scale comparison. The range sounds like its considerably less than the SM1500 though. Regardless, nice find and nice mod.

EDIT: oops - thanks Blister, "SM750" is what I really meant. I don't even have an SM1500 (but that's basically an AT2K, right?)

The airtank is roughly 5/8" in diameter and 3" long.

The tank is small, but not as small as an SSPB. If I could tweak it to get ranges like an SSPB, I'd be happy. My SSPB's get ranges of about 50' while this only gets in the 40's. My guess is that the pump of the SSPB--even with the overpressure valve--is able to get the tank to higher pressures than this gun.

I just found one of these at big lots. Stock, it gets about the same range as a stock 2k, and only holds air half the time you pump it. It seems to leak air out the pump as you pump. I'm working on modding it now.

The copyright date on its box is "2008", so they're still being made.

Thanks for the mod, Frost!

Shame they don't hold pressure though. I can confirm what Pebbles said about the leakyness. Apparently it's a design flaw.

And by the way, the opening of the blaster, where the air comes out, is less than 1/8'' big. I don't think there is any way to expand it either without risking the blaster... so I might try it later. Being that it IS a $4 blaster.
