First of all, I know how stupid it sounds to put a scope on something that won't shoot that far anyway, but I do it mainly for style purposes. So here we go:

The Parts I used are:
(The parts in the pictures are leftovers from the mod)



1. Duct Tape
2. Leftover Clip-On Thingy from the Dart Tag Pistols
3. Cheap Plastic Lenses
4. Carpet
5. Foam
6. Cardboard Tube
7. Hot Glue
8. X-acto Knife (to cut the holes for the Clip-On Thingy in the Cardboard Tube)

So your title says that it is a working scope, but in your thread you say it does not work. So in other words it's gay.

English is not my mothertongue, sorry for the error. But please specify: where exactly does it say its not working.

After all it does zoom in a little, but because the lenses are made of cheap plastic the range isn't that far.

I do not need to specify anything because I am a Rear Admiral of nerfhaven!

If one used glass lenses, one could make a real 2-3x scope in this manner.

On topic: What is the carpet for? I assume it's to hold the smaller lens in place in the center of the tube.

Actually, I used the Hot Glue to keep both lenses in place, since the largest point of focus wasn't much already.

The Carpet was used as a material for the outer shell, simply because I ran out of foam.

The red circled area is where the piece of Carpet was used:


The Cardboard Tube itself actually is a small cylindrical box for chocolate cookies, so all I had to do to keep the small lens in place was to cut a hole into the bottom and glue it in place.

Back on topic. If you're looking for lenses, check out Edmund Scientific, or any other hobby level supply site. Unless you have some very specialized tools, the level of alignment you would be able to get by hand would pretty much negate the advantages of good optics.
P.S. don't look at the sun with one of those things.

A proper lens in this situation would be a bi-convex lens, with a flat lens as the second one.
