Why Does The Scout Have A Reverse Bayonet Mount?

Have there every been any official Nerf Scout barrel accessories?
I think I might make a short run of purely aesthetic easy-on silencers to sell to LARPers, since these pistols seem to be popular with them.

Maybe it is something, maybe it's not. Either way, it's inspiration for you to go do something about it. You could make your own cosmetic silencer. Or heck, maybe even a barrel extension.
Do you mean 50 feet or is it 50 inches??
Vancouverites (and surrounding areas), PM me if you Nerf.

At any rate, neet find. The closest I've seen is a cosmetic silencer that was tooled to utilize the fitting there. Which is pretty much what you and the poster above me suggested. It looked ok, if a bit out of place on a scout. I'm not sure what practical applications you could use the grove for other than a cosmetic mod.

We can always hope, can't we?

This gun is out of production. I don't think we'll be seeing products released for it.

No it's not, but it is a fairly annoying and pointless gun to obtain because of it's poor performance. You can still buy the N-Strike set and most Toys R' Us locations. This gun is out of production.

For some sort of clamp, perhaps.

Oh, I just assumed that it was the leftover stock they were selling, like those AT3Ks that pop up in dollar stores and Canadian Walmarts.
The Disk shot also has vertical grooves.

Do you mean the gun itself, or the disk launcher? The gun has grooves on it for the disk launcher remote.

Yah, I noticed the same on my Disk Shot, but I think it's for aesthetics, like Captain Slug said. I don't think that Hasbro's gonna be making nerf bayonets anytime soon, but it doesn't mean we can't, haha.
Who said anything about nerf bayonets? This thread is about bayonet mounts, not knives mounted on guns.

Can anyone with a disk shot take a closeup of the 'slots' for me?

There are different kinds, depending on the bayonet you want to mount. The muskets of the American Revolution had a slotted shroud over the muzzle that a bayonet would slip into and then lock, much like how one attaches the front gun the Longshot. M4s have a mount under the front sight and perpendicular to the barrel that looks like a tab woth grooves cut into it. In Nerf, it doesn't really matter, because you can just make a shroud that slips over the muzzle, and then has tabs that can snap into the existing grooves to hold it in place. It is completely up to the owner. Just remember to make the shroud with an inner diameter larger than that of your barrel so it doesn't catch the dart after the gun is fired. The slots on the Scout barrel do not look like a bayonet mount. If I understand the Wikipedia article, and it's actually true and not edited by vandals or idiots, it wouldn't work like that. Or are there different kinds of bayonet mounts?

It isn't a bayonet mount, it's a reverse bayonet mount. IE, you have two pins that face in on the inside whatever you're attaching, and those engage the slots, and lock with a 10° (or whatever) turn.
Bayonet mounts have very little to do with actual bayonets anymore, it's just a name! For example, a lot of automotive bulbs (turn signals, etc) have bayonet mounts.
