First off im sorry if this thread is in the wrong spot or if the "concept" angers anyone.

Now down to bussiness.
While sitting thinking about the tommy 20's motor thing I think I had a stroke of genius. First maybe we could remove the tommy20s trigger system and the yellow clip thing which would leave the motor and the black thing that spun the clip thing. Then perhaps attach the motor to the black spinner so the when turned on it spins the black thing.

After that put in the rf20 internals into the tommy 20 and expand the airtank by alot.

After that attach pieces of plastic or pvc to the black spinner that when the motor is turned on spins the whole thing and then attach a pvc chain filled with nerf darts to the spinner.

Pump the rf20 and turn on the motor and fire

Is this idea plaussible (sp?)

If you really want to know, try it and find out for yourself.

EDIT: Either way, that's not how a gatling gun works. They usually have between 4-8 barrels that have a constant supply of shells from a hopper (grav-feed works best because you can keep dumping shells in). I won't get too technical but basically a round goes into one of the barrels, gets fired, and dumped out the bottom all in a 270 degree rotation. The other 90 degrees is dead space where said barrel is empty.

Could be wrong. Either way. Not a Gatling. Just use an RF20.

Now that Recruit has pointed out I'm an idiot, I think you'd be best off just trying to convert the RF20, rather than getting a Tommy involved.

Haha, I guess I'm too hopped up on cough medicine to read properly. I'll just wander off now.

What's an RF29? A Typo, or an automatic I haven't heard of that would be easier to convert?

On a related note:

I know that concept threads are frowned on. I also know why: because the vast majority of them, such as this one, will never come to fruition, rendering them nigh-useless. But were I to build a homemade, I would certainly prefer to post the concept to see if anyone sees any flaws, has suggestions, or has tried the same thing before. Is there some sort of accepted middle ground between "neat concept, build it and come back" and a finished homemade?

Here’s my take…

I’ve always felt that the middle ground is, “here’s my concept, and here’s what I’ve built so far.”, even if it doesn’t shoot a dart. You can test the initial idea yourself to see if it’s even feasible, and then post the start of your work to get input.

If you have a design that you’re not even sure about starting, try PMing a few people with sketches and ideas, and discussing it that way.

It’s not so much that the Homemades forum is “anti-idea”, but more that its baseline is one of actual work and practical application.
