I was wondering if anybody had experimented with getting their brass barrel rifled by a gunsmith, and whether it helped or hindered the gun's performance.
Would the grooves introduce a small amount of friction and diminish the overall range?
Would the grooves allow some air to pass around the dart, decreasing the pressure on it and making it fall to the ground a flacid ten feet away?
Would they improve accuracy at all? I can see stefans being able to fly straigt and true on their own, but maybe a stock dart would fly better if it had a spin to it.
Has anybody tried this? Is there an obvious property of Nerf physics that makes this obviously foolish?

It's been discussed many times, but the end result is that Nerf ammunition doesn't benefit from rifling, and isn't fired with enough pressure to make it feasable in the first place. Look up the other discussions and you can get a lot more depth as to why.

No, No, No, No, Yes.
Nerf darts are squishy; real bullets are not. There are about an additional billion different reasons why rifling is not feasible in the nerf realm.

On nerf world Vassili tried it and he said when it worked it worked very well. But most of the time it just spiraled out in a spin. It was in a writeup at nerf world but that doesn't exist anymore, but proof of existance is on Foam fortress armory.

They didn't put it up but it did exist.

Notching barrels, however, can work.

Maybe tightening rings?
