If you're doing anything higher scale, then I've always had good times with Adobe Premier. I'm starting to learn how to use the Sonic MyDVD, which is probably on the level of MS Movie Maker's simplicity. I'm sure these sound like caveman's tools compared to some of the hardcore video editing software out there. It all depends how big/complex the project is. Sometimes I like to use simpler programs because I don't need all the features for the little clip I'm working on. Othertimes, all the bells and whistles go a long way.
Of all my very short clips demonstrating nerf mods here, I have used MS Movie Maker.

Frost, did MS Movie Maker come with your OS? Or did you have to dl it?
Thanks for the info Bags, but I think that's a little much for me.

Adobe is good if you're a student; they practically give it away.

I know Groove uses Videomach(or did on Chronicles of an East Coast Nerfer 2006).
Note: SourceForge is a tricky site. I'd recommend browsing projects(top button, "Projects") rather than searching. Find the proper category and then narrow it down on the tree on the right. Then, use filters to your liking. I have more success with it this way.

I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

If you're ever interested in larger projects and more complex editing tools, then there are some great suggestions in this thread. I normally just use movie maker when I'm doing anything that lasts less than 10-15 minutes.
It's the "MSPAINT" of video-editing programs that's nice to use even after learning some of the better editing packages.

It's not free, but it's pretty good.
