Hey,
I was up last night and thought about modding my future Magstrike, my idea is:
  • Cut off the air tank.
  • Get a tank off my old water guns.
  • Hot glue it on.
  • Add a PVC butt to the end of it to make it look like a rifle.
  • Pat myself on the back.
Is this possible? It's going to be my first mod ever.

Anything is possible. A better question would be is it feasible? Answer - no. Too much work, for so little, if anything, gained. And don't use hot glue to create an air seal. It won't work.

Don't do that unless you are planning to ruin your Magstrike in a difficult way! The "air tank" on the Magstrike is a rubber bladder so it pushes the air through the pistons that make it work. Plus just hot glue would NOT work. You would need plumbers goop or epoxy. Also the tank is connected by a little vynyl hose. So If you plan to mod your magstrike, look through Forsaken_angel24's modification directory for one.
EDIT: Dang! Prometheus posted while I was typing!

Do you mean to use the CPS part of the Super Soaker? Because if you use the water reservoir tank, you won't get constant pressure for each shot. You COULD use the CPS bladder of the Super Soaker, but I don't know if it gives any significant pressure increase. If you feel ambitious, try it, but you might risk losing performance. I would recommend banding or tire innertubing the original bladder.

Also, try to find an alternative for hot glue when working with pressurized tanks. I have heard that if you put an obscene amount of hot glue at a connection, it might work, but I SERIOUSLY don't recommend it.

Try using Plumber's Goop,

or Super Glue.

CPS stands for "Constant Pressure System". Any Super Soaker that has it will proudly state "CPS" on the side of the gun.

The CPS bladder WILL work with the magstrike if it is attached properly. I just don't know if it will help any.

*Edit
As to what I recommended earlier:

An alternative to replacing the magstrike air bladder would be to purchase a bicycle tire innertube. Cut a few sections of innertube to match the length of the magstrike bladder. Slide the tube sections over the magstrike bladder. I don't own a magstrike though, so I am not sure if a bicycle tire innertube fits well over the bladder. If it works, it will increase the pressure of each shot.

*Double Edit
I just realized that you said "future magstike" as in you don't own one yet. You probably don't know how it works then. It has a CPS bladder inside the "stock":

Basically, it's a rubber tube that expands like a balloon when it fills with air. This gives consistent pressure for every shot.

Basically, there is no point in doing it. It can be done, but most likely with no significant performance increase. Don't bother trying it.

Oh, by the way, hot glue has worked to contain a leak for me in my big blast. I accadentally cut one of the post things which the air flows through right in half, so I put some vinyl tubing in there, and sealed it with an insane amount of hotglue. It works fine but is really ugly. (Sorry for the crappy explination.)

Hot glue works for plugging holes, but a layer won't stop pressurized air (so you can use it to seal barrels, but not air tanks). And you should always use PVC cement and primer when using fittings with pressurized air.

For maximum efficiency?

1. Pump up. Count how many pumps.

2. Keep going until you hear a loud "bang".

3. Subtract one pump from the total. Rebuild your air bladder.

There you go.

Here's my suggestion;
  • Try GETTING A MAGSTRIKE first.
  • Take home and play with it awhile.
  • Change your mind about doing any modification to it.
  • Pat yourself on the head.
It's funny how so many new members put their hypothetical modifications and theories on topic for discussion BEFORE they even get the blaster. More often than not they either;
  • Don't' buy the blaster at all, or
  • They buy it and are happy without modding it.
Okay. there you have it. Two lists to answer your one list. Buy sump'tin first.

Yes possible, yes plausible, no, not effective. Our means of making a bladder gun stronger is much better than Kmodding, which is putting water balloons on a circular bladder.
We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.

That my friend, is incorrect for me. I keep word when buying something. Also the gun can always do better than stock.

I like your name. It fits.

May I just say thank you for making my day so enjoyable with that joke. Don't bother just band the bladder if you have to. And there are far better mods you can do to that precious magstrike.

Oh by the way, I believe that this hypothetical mod is the thing that will get you baned.
