I recently bought a few SSPB's and tried both of the mods in the directory but both times i got a decrease in range. They look exactly as the ones in the picture but they don't work at all. Can someone try and help me out please? Thanks.

Did you attempt to plug the pump? If so, then you might have inadvertently overpumped.
Did you pump fast enough? The SSPB's, Splitfire, SS2 all have valved which require fast pumping.
Is your barrel too long?
Is there a seal between the tank and the barrel?

Dont bother trying to plug the pump if you havn't already. It makes it way to hard to pump up the gun, and you really don't gain much range.

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

No, I didn't plug the pump and yes i pump it until it doesn't take any more air? Do you think i should plug it and if so how? I don't think that i would have as problem pumping it.

Also, do you know what the effective barrel length is?

And yes, it is sealed

What kind of barrel material did you use?

I used 3" of CPVC. Are your darts extremely tight in the barrel because that might prevent it from firing.

I bought a very well modded sspb off of frenzybob about 2 years ago. He modded this thing before it was even on the directory. He plugged the pump on it. Then I openned it up and unplugged the pump. I lost about 10' in range and the air didn't hold as long. I actually think plugging the pump makes a big differnce in guns like the sspb, SF, and ss2 like blister said.

I find the most effective use for a sspb is to just take your dart out of the barrel and hurl it at your intended target. The thing with SSPB is that they shoot about as far as you can throw the dart...

Surely someone else here remembers Carrtoons (I do believe) SSPB. That hit 70s? I would go with that. And if you can throw a dart 70 feet, post a vid.

I don't get 70', but I do get very respectable ranges. Probably in the 50's (my pump is not plugged).
