yo, guys. I began construction today on my first homemade of note (I made a snap MK1 and a slightly modified MK1 earlier in the year. Nothing special).

It's a pre-charged pneumatic, which means you pump the main tank to a high pressure, and through some sort of actuation (pneumatic in my case), each charge of the weapon gets five or ten shots. The idea isn't new to the nerf community.

But some of the mechs in the gun are. For starters, the secondary (firing) chamber is located inside the bolt to minimize dead space. Also, the valve WILL NOT OPEN until the bolt is locked down. I'll explain soon in pics/diagrams.

1st post... I'm not privy to picture hosting. Where should I go?

Cheers

Are you asking where to go to upload pictures? If so use Photobucket or Imageshack(Photoshop.com, Imageshack.com)

...once you've got it hosted on one of those two (it is indeed imageshack.us, not .com):
Photobucket: Click on the address labeled "URL." It should copy automatically.
Imageshack: Click on the thumbnail to get it full size. Right click on the picture and then left click "Save Image Location."

Come here, start a post, click the tree (to the left of the letter and right of the speech box in the post menu), hit ctrl+v.

Even easier, you can just click on the IMG Tag then paste it here.
And, I don't know if this is a personal problem, but I can't upload pictures on to Photobucket with Netscape. It might just be my Netscape, but it works perfectly fine with Firefox. Anyone else have any problems with Netscape and Photobucket?

Otherwise, I recommend Photobucket, it's really easy to resize (they have a handy little "Message Board" resize button) and real easy to work with. Imageshack might have the same features, but you'd have to ask someone who's actually used it before.

Blasphemy. I think you need to throw yourself against a wall, drive to store and buy yourself a brain.

Thanks for the help with photobucket. As promised, here are some poorly drawn plans and pics of construction. Shown are bolt face, part of airtank, and actuation valve (sans final neoprene washer and spring).

All your base are belong to us.

I don't expect any of you to be able to make sense of the drawings. I just posted them because... well... don't really know.

Here's the firing sequence:
When you open the bolt (60deg rotation of operating handle), the lugs disengage. When you pull it back (all the way), a spring-held valve in the main tank is forced open and fills the actuation tank in the bolt. It closes when you push the bolt forward, and when you rotate the handle down 60 degrees, the lugs re-engage.

When the trigger is pulled, the sliding section of 17/32" brass connecting the bolt to the main tank moves backward about 1/4", which release the air is the actuation tank. It's simple. Yet VERY hard to put down on paper.

It's an axi-symmetric semi-auto valve rigged to work work with the opening and closing of the bolt.

Magazine is FIXED, for durability. However, it still uses the boltsn1per inspired T Joints, only there are two screws securing the magazine to the receiver. Since there is no "ejection port" to fumble with (the entire top half of the receiver is open) , the magazine can be "topped off" when the bolt is open. I'm planning a five round magazine (brass shells to prevent jams), but since it can be swapped out for a different magazine easily, this won't be an issue either way. After about 8 shots the ranges will begin to suck, and the main tank will have to be refilled.

Thoughts? More stuff to follow. Home depot tomorrow.

The plunger head is very similar to what my Phantom has now, but my plunger shaft is brass to make it sleeker. Looks good so far.

Also, you don't have to substitute the "i" in boltsniper's name. The censor only replaces it if it says snįper.

I saw him refered to as "bolt loser" in another thread. I decided to be on the safe side. Thanks for the heads up!

Got back from home depot. Time to cement the air tank together.

HOkay, so...

I was delayed because my beeman 5030M scope rings shipped from cabelas. Which meant I could go bunny fragging in the evenings with my RWS 350. http://www.usabowl.com/rws350mag.jpg

^^Gun porn. It's a .22cal air rifle that shoots about 900fps with the heavy pellets. Why airguns? Because I can shoot in my backyard whenever I feel like it (I'm saving for an M14, but this will have to do for now). It actually groups better than my remington .22 . Anyhoo, I shot two lil hoppers and I plan to grill them up nice tomorrow.

Back to work tomorrow. Pics soon.

The setup the rws 350 utilizes was the partial inspiration for the homemade. I thought it was fitting to post the inspiration for the project.

Edit: rabbit removed. M14s are expensive. More to follow.

Why the bunnies? Why kill them? I mean if they are an infestation but, WHY? I would try to use an ompa mag. That would make sense, and they work well.
We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.

Well... how else do you get rid of them? Trapping can kill animals OTHER than rabbits, and relocation won't work. I already tried it. Plus, rabbits make for good eating.

What is an ompa mag? Sounds tasty.

Progress has temporarily been suspended because I go to college 500 miles away from my house. At this moment, I'm finishing work on two NFs and a longshot for the onslaught of pick-up wars CMDRMACK will surely draft me for.

More to follow... in a few months...

Cheers

Hokay so,

school and nerf are in full swing. I have no time to work on this project, and don't anticipate having any until Christmas. The lack of a work bench is also a major inconvenience.

Thanks for the ompa clip idea and pics.
