If you get a large memory card its definately worth it. I got a 4 gig for around 90 dollars. I was lucky those cards retail at 180. I think the psp2 will be alot better. Like the ram and internet speeds.

And its made by sony. Sony= quality

After watching 2 PS2's, a PSP, 3 Sony DVD players, 2 Sony VCR's, a Sony TV, and 2 Sony speakers die, that part made me laugh.

Don't get me wrong, I love Sony's stuff, but they've let the quality on everything besides game consoles go to shit.

The PSP's good, but if you want to play games that aren't just clones of PS2 games, get a DS

That's odd.

My Sony Walkman cassette player, circa 1982, just went South last year. As in motor won't go even with fresh batteries. If it had an AM/FM radio, it probably still would have worked. I did, however, go through 4 or 5 sets of headphones/ ear pieces.

I think a lot of how things last have to do with how you treat them. That's an awful lot of Sony products for one person to go through (correct me if you're referring to friends, family, and others all in one descriptive).

But it DOES have a lot to do with brand, too. In my work, I've gone through 2 sets of Radio Shack brand commercial band radios (for our Security team), whilst our Motorola SP-10 and SP-50 radios still don't miss a beat after 10 plus years of heavy use (not abuse). They're still in use, in addition to some older HT-90 radios that might be older than some NH members.

Sorry to drift off-topic.

Back to the PSP; most of you know I have little interest in games. But my nephew showed me his PSP, and I must say, it's pretty impressive. Like some members said, it does more than just play games. I could dig that. That said, I still won't buy one, but would if I did have a couple hundred floating around uselessly.

Sony used to have much higher quality standards. They've slid over the years. Certainly, they're not the worst (ever seen XBox 360 failure rates?), but they're no longer among the best. They're just… meh. They still charge you like they were the best, though, so for most consumer electronics (not stuff like the PSP) it's usually better to go with another brand that will have better stuff for the same price.

I've heard that their really high-end stuff is still good, although I cannot personally attest to this.

Yeah but now with all the good feature of the PSP; with the new SLIM one coming out, it should be great 'cause you gotta admit, one of the major problems of it was how thick and bulcky it was. Hell, making things slim always make it better ie. Nintendo DS. And you know, a whooe lot of people can say why the PSP sucks and that making it thinner wont do nothing good. Belive me, it worked for the DS, It'll work for the PSP.
