[FONT=Geneva]I have been in nerf for a little less more than a month. I have sucessfully moded a coulple of guns. I modded my neighbors airtech 2k and i have converted a super soaker. But i want somthing more. I want to use CO2! ;)

I am planning on making a homemade CO2 gun. Has anyone sucessfully made one. I saw one on nerf hq or somewhere, a guy named boltsniper(i think) made a bolt action co2 gun. Does any one have any practical ideas.

thanks

I'll let someone else tell you the big stuff, but let me tell you this: Don't try using it in a Nerf brand gun. It will blow the release. Trust me. Lost a good SF that way.

My friend Evan Neblett, your bolt loser, is a grad student from Virginia Tech. He has designed several UAVs for the NAVY! You however say that you've only been in nerf for a little less more than a month. Believe me i've tried to convert a paintball gun into a mega firing gun, and it works allright. However anything made out of PVC containing Co2 will buckle, because an unpeirced 12 gram canister ia about 900 psi, and the highest PVC goes is 600 psi for water. Therefore you wold have to design it like Evan did, and that my friend is extremely complex. It is not as simple as you think. There are plenty of physical limits you have to meet, and trying to follow Evan's stoned out instructions is very hard. ^_^ So if you can figure out what Evan's trying to say, i'd stick with less powerful guns.

P.S. My paintball gun blows the fuc* out of all my darts.

I blew a couple a' darts n' walls that way. But this guys big words are right: PVC + Co2 = Something bad. I would wait until you have a little more expierience modding before incorporating Co2.

Eh, well one of the whole points of y'playing nerf is to save up some money; co2 will kill your budget.

B'sides, if you wanna make a homemade, don't use pvc. It will blow up.

Not if you use refillable 30 ounce tanks.

Dude, they don't make 30 oz tanks. The biggest is 24 oz.

Yes, I have drawn up some plans for a co2 bolt action air rifle that i think looks prety good and fairly simple if you look at it in a way, so if any one wants me to scan them and send them over just contact me, iive just began its construction, it does involve a little bit of welding but hey its easier then u think, it mainly consist of a poppet air valve, compression canister with a co2 soda bulb adapter welded to it.

I'm working on a CO2 Nerf Weapon too. It will be a Clip Weapon with a Rapid Fire Modus.

Not true.
Depending on the gun, co2 is entirely possible.
Me and Bravo Leader down the hall converted a rapid fire 20 to CO2. If anyone is interested I could come up with some specifics

Basically, we took the handpump out, and put in a pressure regulator that takes the pressure down to 5-30psi. I didnt say it was a cheap mod. We did get a deal on a used one though. we then just took a hose and connected it thru the hose that goes from the air bladder to the trigger, expoxied and sealed it up real good, and dug out with a screwdriver a little room to fit the regulator. If you try this, remember to at least leave the part on directly behind the piston, or it wont turn. the thing in the front is just a flashlight because we had room. I noticed that the longer you hold the trigger, the faster and longer it goes, it speeds up. doing this will disable the single fire, but the person that does this mod i seriously doubt will care. We might post a comprehensive mod at some point, but its getting close to finals week, and then winter break, so dont expect it before february. here s a picture of the finished product, (sorry about the tape around the regulator, i dropped it.)

Oh dear... I don't know whether to say "Beautiful!" or "Ug-ly!", but it definately looks fearsome. Good work, does it affect anything other than the priming time? i.e. range, ROF. You might want to look into replaceable clips so you can make the most of that weapon. How much did the regulator cost?

We got the regulator for 40, and the CO2 catridge holder ( the thing hanging down) was 20. We use the 8 oz CO2 canisters, they last for about 3 - 5 full magizines. the ROF was better, under 5 seconds for the whole magizine, and the ROF accelerated. The ROF can be toyed with with the pressure regulator. distance improved, on the average, a little over 30', with some shots going 35'+

its ugly, but it gets the job done.

the next mod will be replacing the plastic tube from the Pressure REgulator to the trigger "switch" and replacing that switch with a more durable one to hold more pressure

Bravo Leader wants to hit 50', but hes got a few screws loose

So does the c02 fill up the air bladder, flow direectly through the gun, or push a plunger to compress air for the shots?

no, the co2 would do the same thing as a regular homemade, it would fill a fireing chamber. It is the same deal like a regular pump, except co2 is a sdource where you doint need to pump. Look at a paintball gun, the idea(for blow back, your standard gun) is that when you pull the trigger you release a amout of co2 that shoots the ball and blows back the bolt. I have been thinging about it.. you really can't make a home made co2 with out useing paintball gun parts. look at boltsniper, his plan calls for the bolt of a brass eagle blade. Charlie used a regulator.
