I tried to modify my expandablast, but it only shoots about 20 feet.

What I did was remove all the usless extra stuff, then i glued 2 pvc cuplers to a 8 inch piece of cpvc, then shoved it down the barrel untill it was snug. I then bought a new spring, but it would not catch so i had to use the old one. I put the gun back together, added some ruberbands, and tried it but was very dissapointed. With no dart in it, when i put my had infront of the barrel and shoot, i can feel tons of air comming out, but it dosnt shoot the dart very far. Am i using the wrong type of barrel? Should i use brass instead?
Thanx

I then bought a new spring, but it would not catch so i had to use the old one.

Use a dremmel to cut the spring a little shorter. Whats happening is when you pull the spring back, it compresses all the way before allowing the shaft go all the way back. You could also get a new spring if you like. Look for one with less coils. The less coilds, the more spring you can use. I have a feeling your barrel is not air tight. Snug is often not. Try covering the barrel with your finger, making an airtight seal. The spring should prefereable no close. I am pretty sure it will slowly leak out though, which is all right. It should shouldn't as fast as it normally would fire without your finger there. In otherwords, the slower the spring closes the better. In any case, check for leakage and if there is a leak make a better seal. It takes a little ingenuity to ifgure out how to do it, but just as long as you don't glue anything or saw anything to/from the gun you can always try over again.

what darts?

PVC is alright with nerf micros in this gun. Brass is excellent with micro stefans.

You want brass in a size that lets you blow your darts down the barrel but the darts don't fall out by themselves. If unsure, go with the bigger size - you don't want the darts to fit tightly with an EaB.

Topic is a little old, but who cares. Make a pvc coupler and stick it way in the barrel, add an extension of about 12 inches. Poxy in place, but to prevent the micros from flying into the main plunger barrel put a nail through the pvc. I had George help me out I must get about 80'. I'll try and get pics up.

I kept the same spring, get rid of the extension barrel thingy too, its just a waste.

TOpic is extremely old, and so old that I forgot that I had asked it, and was about to reply to the person that i had the same problem until I switched the barrel to brass, until I realized it was me who asked the question.
