I bought a Firefly about a year ago and messed around a little bit with trying to mod it. The problem is that after doing so, it won't cock properly. I pull back the slide and it doesn't have that "click" where the spring is locked into place. So the slide then snaps back into position and I can't fire the gun. Because of the amount of time between doing this and actually going to outside help about it, I don't remember what I did to it to deserve that. The only mod I did was removing the air restrictors, which wouldn't do this (unless I'm completely mistaken).

Anyway, if anyone has any ideas about what to do about this bad boy, I'd appreciate it. I like the gun and don't want to have to go buy another.

You probably reassembled it wrong. Use the search button to find a mod or something with pics of the FF's internals, and figure out what the problem is.

Or you could just look into the Mod's Directory for quicker link

You have done one of three things:

A) Lost the catch spring.
<_< Inserted the plunger UPSIDE DOWN (this is a common one. I've done it TWICE).
C) Assembled it incorrectly (the catch for the most part).

And a bonus...

D) The plunger head screw has been ripped out from the plunger rod itself, making the plunger head separate from the plunger rod, meaning that pulling the cocking handle back does nothing but pull the rod out (meaning no tension from the spring at all). This has happened to me and it's really pissed me off since I didn't even do a spring replacement. 2-ton epoxy will put this bitch back in its place.

Thank you. I'll fiddle with it later today and see if I can figure it out.

Sometimes this problem happens to me too, in fact just yesterday night after I've re assembled my friend's Longshot, and I tried to cock the sidearm barrel but it wouldn't cock.
I thought the catch spring was out of it's fitting or something, or the nosel was upside down, but it turned out that the spring was not perfectly straight.
It curved a bit in the middle and when I tried to manually push the plunger back, it showed me clearly that when forced back, since the spring was a 'lil curved, it pushed the plunger upwards instead of straight, so the lock mechanism would never lock the plunger.
To fix this, I just rotated the spring around a bit until it would force the plunger down when pushed (or whichever direction the locking mechanism is on), then when cocked back, the spring would force the plunger downwards towards the lock.
Sometimes you could do everything right and still have problems, if you still can't figure it out today, just set it aside until you have one of those moments where things just seems to "click" in your mind (That's what I did to my old Maverick when I tried to mod it and it malfunctioned, instead of tossing a new Mav out the window, I gave it to my friend until I was ready and more experienced to fix it. I got it back 2 weeks later and now my friend has a modded Mav that can shoot stefans).
