It isn't important or anything, but if possible I would like to have this:



as my avatar. It's just a way to be uniquely identified (so everyone can ridicule me with reckless abandon without checking to make sure they aren't slamming on the wrong guy), and to show my age and love of obscure, 80's sci-fi children's television.

If I don't get it, I won't cry. I'll just keep being a purple haze and go on about my business. But c'mon now VACC, you realised your dream of being close to Ice - can't I have a bit of fun too?

LOL - I had a fair-sized collection of the action figures and ships - not to mention the majority of the episodes on VHS tape. I used to spend hours in front of the TV with my Powerjet or Phantom Striker (sometimes alone, sometimes with one of my brothers or cousins) blasting away at the targets on the Biomechs, Biodreads, etc. Now, as a grown-up, I get to relive some of that as I've re-collected a lot of things using EBay, and gotten my hands on a semi-authorized DVD collection of the complete series. (If anyone wants info on this, shoot me a PM.) Unfortunately, the light-gun aspects of the toys don't work with my LCD TV, so I'd have to hook my DVD player up to my little 13" CRT if I wanted to re-live the battles of my youth.

In closing, let me just say...

I had all the stuff too, I really loved Captain Power. I think I just might go looking for the guns and etc myself, I miss those. I have a nice 27" CRT that I can use =)

This topic was originally made to get ideas for establishing the base avatar gallery. There are something like 600 general-themed avatars by now. There probably won't be any more. You should know what you've got to do in order to earn a custom avatar anyway - contribute original material. If you're not a big-time modder or builder that can be very difficult, so you need to be creative. War-related things could theoretically count if the subject is unique and/or significant. Having your own avatar is not even that big of a deal unless you're widely recognized by it on other forums, which is a concern that doesn't apply to very many members [you can tell by their posting styles that this is the only major forum they've ever experienced]. Personally I miss my own green X, but without lots of contributions there's no reason to have it here.

Anyway, that's why this topic is no longer of any value. The base gallery is solid, the path to custom avatars is well-known, and I'd bet my maxshot that further requests have been for years no longer necessary.

Yo, ponies are old hat now. You know what all the kids are clambering to get their hands on? Avatars of my webcomic, which is entirely original and not at all trying to rip off xkcd entirely (because xkcd is amazing and groundbreaking and a non-stop laugh all of the time).



Please ignore the spelling and grammatical errors, because the computer I wrote this on didn't have any sort of checking system, and also suspend your disbelief that a Mac user would be calling a PC support line for some reason, because this comic is transcendent and amazing and THE BEST. So be on the look out for Best Comic All The Time avatars soon!
