I'm trying to mod my longshot so it can shoot stock dart tag darts (for a bunch of "wars" where the church will be supplying darts and most people will only have stock guns ).

So my plan is to put a PVC pipe that's the diameter of the dart tag dart head so it's replacing about a half inch of the back barrel in the breech. The idea is to pick up the dart, with enough room for the head, and then have the back barrel fit around the front one (the opposite of how it is now). I've checked, and there's plenty of room in the front barrel for the head, but if I just cut the back barrel, there would be a hole in the barrel that air could leak out.

The only problem is actually getting the darts. I have like, 10 stripped screws in my longshot at the moment, so it will take some doing to be able to open it up to look first hand, and I need to see how the breech system works with the clip. Could anyone who has a longshot open check if the PVC would run in the the clip, or not grab the dart at all? Has anyone attempted this, or can come up with a different approach to it?

You should go with 17/32 brass in the carrier and with 21/32 brass for your barrel. The 17/32 is a perfect tight fit on taggers and the 21/32 is the same as PVC. This way you can still use clips. I hope that this is understandable.

The heads of dart tag or suction cup darts will simply not fit in the magazine so I don't see how you're going to manage this. And you can't shoot suction cup or dart tag darts out of a long barrel unless you stick it in the very end. The tip provides an enormous amount of friction and is counterintuitive to the concept.
Just go with a different gun. A nightfinder will perform just as well as a longshot but with much simpler modifications. And it can shoot any kind of dart you can cram into the barrel.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

There's no need to replace the barrel with PVC. The Longshot's barrel is extremely wide so it has no problems firing stock taggers. And the magazine can fit the stock taggers. The only problem with using taggers in the magazine is that the darts have a tendency to sometimes stick to the side walls and stop the other darts from being pushed all the way up.

If you want a more reliable way to lad taggers, just put a dart in the front of the barrel and let it slide down. After it slides to the bottom, cock the gun back and when you push the handle forward make sure the bolt is covering the foam part of the dart. It doesn't hurt the ROF too bad and is the my favorite way to load darts that I picked up on the ground during a war. To do this I'm assuming you already removed the air restricters and have an empty clip.

I've tried it, and the clip fits the taggers well, I'll just have to grease it so that the heads don't get stuck, which only happens occasionally anyway. I want the feel and rate of fire that the longshot provides, which is why I'm not using a pistol as my primary and why I need to be able to use the clip.

Jurassic, do you mean replacing the barrel completely, or just the bolt?
