When I first got my firefly and opened it up I noticed this piece:

I thought that this was a pretty cool idea for making a seal with the turret, too bad it really doesn't work. I plugged it up with my thumb and pushed the plunger in. Air was escaping like crazy, it did not make me happy. So, as a nerfer, I cured this problem, by cutting a piece of craft foam and glueing it like so:

And I decided to keep the blue piece in also, two in this case is better than one.

With this new amazing seal, I could now do an effective barrel replacement. I used these barrels:

And here is the final turret:

I really like my new firefly, it works well in short-ranged backyard wars, because of it's amazing ROF and increased range.

What kind of barrel is that? PVC? Cpvc?

I think it would have been more effective to put the foam craft sheet around the lip of the blue piece.
How much range increase comes from just doing your seal mod?

I don't get my kicks out of you,
I don't feel the way I used to do.
I know its bad,
After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Which is polyethylene tubing if I remember correctly. You can cut it to length using a hobby knife.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

If I put the foam around the lip, air would still seep out the sides of blue piece, which was my ploblem in the beginning. Yea, the barrels are pretty weak and flexible, I cut mine with garden clippers. With JUST the improved seal I got about 10-5 feet extra, with the barrels, 10-15 feet extra (extra range of a ff with ARs removed.)

Could you not add some E-tape around th edges of the blue piece where the air escapes?

Sorry to derail the discussion here, but DON'T epoxy your barrels in. Epoxy does not work on polyethylene. Just so you know.

I think that e-tape would be too thick, I'll try it though. Thanks for the info about the barrels, that will help a lot in the future.
