Hello everyone. I've had this mod for quite some time i'm just posting it now becasue as of today i've finished moding my 8 longshot and 3rd carbine. the point of this mod was to shorten the gun and remove the Pseudo-barrle and increase accuracy and effecincy. The mod has proven to be usefull compared to our longshots that are moded the same way internaly. the Carbines get between 10 to 15 feet better range than there full bodied counterparts. it also looks danm sexy in my oppion. I used the pump from the front gun from the hand rest.

So on to the pictures:

Hehe, I was waiting for someone to get around to doing this. I never had one without a foregrip that I wanted to do it to.

Whats your opinion on this CS?

Beautiful. It makes a good case for me buying a longshot, but I will resist. I must.

The "barrel" is junk. It's a big fat air-restrictor.

Whats your opinion on this CS?

The stock faux barrel does diddly-squat [to improve ranges]. Doing this won't affect ranges noticeably.

Edit: I never had any issues with darts bouncing off the inside of the fake barrel. But then again I never used streamlines.

CS I respect your experiance and knowledge but in our testing with the full body LS and the Carbine LS the carbines get about 10-15 feet better range. the two full body long shots we have may have been moded sub-par but it's just what the test fireings have shown to us. We think it's because of the fact that the round has no chance of bounceing around in the barrle or getting nicked by it when you move the gun after/durring fireing. I may be a little wrong on this but thats just what we've seen durring testing.

Okay, on second thought that is awsome. It's so sweet how you made it small, and even increase range! I'm going to do this to my friends LS (which I'm going to buy), except try to find some way to cover the hole in the front.

Again, beast.

I'm not sure if you're aware of what CS was saying, he was in your defense.

When nerfboi asked if the shortened barrel of the Carbine wouldn't have less range than with the barrel/ front gun attached, CS said that that all that extra plastic on the front (hence faux "false" barrel) does indeed do diddly-squat for the dart.

You are right in that it's probable that the Carbine hasn't the extra plastic to clip the dart in flight or throw it off from optimum trajectory.

But a lot of NerfHaven's members judge weapons on looks, not necessarily on raw performance. That thing looks gnarly. As in good gnarly.

Very nice, so you cock it with the front gun foregrip? Or is there another cocking mechanism that I didn't see.

I'm sure it's still bolt-action.

That would be cool to do, but as CS said, I don't have a LS without a foregrip that I can cut down.

I can dig that. If I didn't love the shotgun fore-grip so much I would definitely do this.

A lack of a barrel will almost never hurt range.

It tends to hurt accuracy. That is the whole point of a barrel.

I haven't tried this, so I do not speak well or ill of it.

It still uses the normal cocking handle but we remove them for easier storage.

That's a lie. Adding a barrel has added a minimum of ten feet to all my gun's ranges. Adding cpvc barrels to my brother's Maverick has done wonders for the ranges on that. It beat my (alibeit shittily modded) NF in a range test.

Not in this case. The longshot barrel reduces momentum due to the dart being able to bounce within the barrel, and air can also leak out around it. In some cases, a lack of barrel can be better, but in alot of cases, a longer barrel is better.

That's because the longshot (i accidentally typed longshit, talk about a freudian slip) has less of a barrel and more of a giant dart brake. If you look at where people added brass barrels to their longshots, the ranges did increase. Besideds, AJAQ said that a lack of a barrel will almost NEVER hurt range. In anything other than a longshot, the addition of a nice barrel will increace performance by astronimic proportions.

I can still add a barrle on to the gun latter but at the moment no fake barrle is better than a fake barrle.

I did the same thing to my Longshot a number of weeks back. Basically, with my three-guns-in-two-hands playstyle, the full-sized Longshot was too unwieldy and awkwardly balanced for efficient one-handed usage. Removing all of that front-weight makes for a damn fine one-handed primary.

Nice idea with using the foregrip from the shitty gun to cover your cuts. I'm gonna steal that for mine, now.

Let me be more clear. Unless you have a barrel that allows more pressure to build up along the way, the range will suffer.

With the longshot stock, you will notice it will fire further without the front gun, but less accurately. (especially with just a spring + AR removal)

In this case, the barrel was not retaining a pressure, so hence, was just friction.

If you notice above, " Adding a barrel has added a minimum of ten feet to all my gun's ranges. " is not entirely accurate. It had a barrel to begin with, but you replaced it with a better one. (better fit, better range.)

Technically, the main purpose of a barrel is to give accuracy to the gun. When it comes to nerf, however, a barrel can also serve as a pressure chamber, allowing more momentum to be gained of the same air column, as long as the air doesn't dissipate, or the added pressure falls below the frictional force.

(Ever heard of a sawed off combustion loser rifle? Me neither.)

hope that clarifies what I attempted to say earlier.

Anyhoo, I use a PETG barrel on my longshot. it definitely works well.

If by what you attempted to say was sn iper rifle, then point made. whoever thought of replacing sn iper with loser was a genius.

I suppose i should have said addding a new barrel added range, but w/e, arguing syntax doesn't make my point any less valid, or your origional post any harder to misinterperit.

Most of the time, if i argue with somebody, it's because even though I know what they meant, it would be easy to misinterperet what that person said to get wrong information. The misinterperitation that leads to poor modding is all I'm trying to get rid of.

I just added the front LS's barrel to the main one. It didn't increase or decrease range, it just made it more accurate.
