Well, I was in TRU today and I found all the new Transformers guns.

Optimus Prime Battle Rig Blaster.

Starscream Barrel Roll Blaster.

They even re-released this piece of shit.

Let me tell you that I once modified the older version of this gun and had an entire write up for it and everything.
End result: It could only shoot a tagger about five feet less than a stock crossfire after advanced modification.
Closure: I ended up gutting it for screws, springs and O-rings. The remains were then tossed in the garbage and spit on in disgust. The mod write up was deleted from my computer.

I didn't buy a single one of these guns because of the horrible experience I had with the previous transformers gun I modified. Maybe when I hear some good reviews I will go mods deep on either the Starscream or Battle rig blaster.

The prices were also up there. $39.99 for the first two and there was no price tag on the last one.
If I am going to get to Jersey I need to start saving some cash.
I think a reasonable price would have been $25.99 for these.

I'm personally not willing to touch any of these with a 10-foot pole.

The little critters of nature, they don't know that they're ugly. That's very funny, a fly marrying a bumble bee. I told you I'd shoot, but you didn't believe me. Why didn't you believe me?

Sometimes I hate being a dedicated collector, but thankfully if Wal-Mart ever gets them in, I can use Maryann's employee discount and get them at least a little bit cheaper.

I also used to collect Transformers back in the early days and I think at least the Starscream one look pretty sweet. If I try to mod one of them, it will be that one.

Weak-minded impulse shoppers... Well, maybe if the mod fails you can throw it at things. It will either work better when you pick it up, or it will explode, which will be entertaining.

Nay, not an impulse shopper. I can't tell people that I have a very comprehensive collection of Nerf guns, including movie tie-ins if I don't own these as well. If I ever get around to fixing my Photobucket account and the folders for my collection, you will see why I will buy these as well. After you psas the 200 gun mark, it is no longer impulsive. It becomes a truly obsessive hobby.

Since both guns fire megas, I think that to convert them to firing CDTDs or stefans will increase their ranges a good deal. I have two TTGs that I modified and without bungees or changing the springs, I get some pretty nice ranges still. We shall see, in time, if these have any potential other than being possible "hard learned lessons."

Ummm...you missed the price tags in two of the three pictures? An, it's the rare toy that isn't made in China.

70% of the items you buy are made in China whether it says so on it or not. That's not really a determiner of quality in so much as the cheapness of the manufacturer that made it is.

These guns will suck because they're an overpriced merchandising gimmick. Just like the Spiderman guns.

Speaking of which, Where the hell are the dart tag spider man and venom dart guns? The ones that looked air powered? Where are the spider man and venom dart tag vests? It is getting a little late to be releasing that kind of merchandising gimmick, don't you think? I want my venom vest dammit!

Yes, pretty much everything from Hasbro is sent to China to be made. I've never really mentioned it before but when I was there last, they pretty much explained the process. HOWEVER, this does not mean they are sacrificing an ounce of quality. Pick up a Buzz Bee rifle and a Nerf blaster and you can just feel the difference. Both are made in China. You get what you pay for.

I saw the Optimus Prime Blaster (not the Battle Rig Blaster) today when I went to TRU. Still no sign of the transformable ones, but still looking out for them.

See the sad part for me is that it is bringing the name of transformers down. And therefore I refuse to accept that these guns exist. Mind over matter. And Transformers still kicks butt.
A
nd to add my 2 cents to the made in china thing, most toys, and plastics in general are made in china, as well and a lot of other things. Apple computer parts, are made in china if I am not mistaken. Things like the power supply box ect. ect. and as far as I am concerned, they are not junk. Then again, please do not start a Apple v.s. PC fight over this, since I like them both and I was just making an example.

Wow those things are pricey! If I had that kind of cash, I would buy another Longshot instead. No offense to anyone who is going to buy this, I just don't see this being too useful in a war.

On a lighter note, from a design aspect, I liked how the transformable Optimus Prime blaster has a blue hand when transformed as though it looks like you're holding it with a robot hand. Sadly, I guess the guns are just good for looks (if even that)...

I can confirm that I saw both of the transforming guns (the hand and the jet) at the Nassau/Princeton Walmart today in central NJ. They had an entire display of them.

I saw some at a Mejier here in Cadillac MI. They were only 29.99 there, 10$ less than the ones pictured at TRU.

That's probably 'cause it cost $40 in Canada. I don't really see why though, the Canadian dollar is almost worth as the U.S one now. Anyway, hopefully the Spider man guns will come out soon. The dart tag blasters looked interesting at least.

I'm very interested in the Optimus Prime blaster:

Posted Image

It's air powered. Approximate retail: 19.99. Full article here:

Hopefully this means more air powered nerf guns in the future...

I will use my first post on these forums to say that the guns discussed in this thread actually are not poor quality. My 5 year old brother got the Starscream Barrel Roll blaster for Christmas, and shooting the darts that it comes with, completely stock, it actually fires pretty well, about twice as far as a stock Nightfinder. Although, for the price, you're mainly buying the looks.

And the sweet flipping to transform it from a jet to a gun.

I would mod it, but it would require me to break/saw off the front orange plastic rings, and since the owner of the gun is 5 years old, I'd rather not do that.

EDIT: Hey Sgt. Brian, even if you did contribute something helpful, you did bump an old thread. Did you check the date?
