I'm going to be getting a new gun. I want to mod it, maybe even just crayola barrels. But I need some suggestions on what to get. I havent been around many nerf guns, only the ones I own (NF, LS, FireFly, Mav)
I want a decent ROF, but Ok distances too. Maybe a breech loading BBB or a Salvo 6 (I belive it's called that)
So if you could give me some tips/suggestions on good guns that arent too crappy that would be great.
Thanks! :(

PS: I'm not an idiot asking for an easy mod, i just have no experience, so i'm wondering about guns.

No more suggestions! I don't want to be a spamming noob >.<

Get a Big Bad Bow.. easiest to mod, fast ROF with a breech barrel and very good ranges. $20.

Try the Total X-Stream Air Rapid Fire Rev Shot. I don't think you can mod it but mine gets like 55 plus feet. The bad thing about is that it use huge missile, but is magazine fed so you can get 6 shots in less then 3 seconds. Here is the place where I got mine:Here
Other then the fact that it can't use Stefans or stock darts it is a wonderful gun and has a high ROF.

Mod your Longshot, if your not new to modding. The gun really isn't too difficult to mod, as long as you have experience with modding guns and you know how everything works and fits together.
If you are new to modding, then mod your Nitefinder, Maverick and Firefly first.

Definitely a BBB. Hella easy to mod, relatively good RoF, and great ranges. Get it.

I agree, I just got my first one and it is loud as hell when dry-firing. It even has recoil! If you want to improve the ROF, you can slap on a 2k rotating barrel assembly.

An at3k is a good bet. It has a Great rate of fire when you one pump it. Not as good ranges though...

Before the Longshot came out, the Big Salvo served me well. All I did was hot glue cpvc barrels in the existing barrels and it became a war favorite between my friend and I. I didn't even plug the pump for fear of breaking it. If you want an effective war weapon that's easy to mod, go with the Big Salvo.

A crossbow is relativly hard to find. I'd go with OMC's opinion and get a Maxshot or a BBB. With a Maxshot, you could do Letfy's Maxshot revolver mod to it. I looks really cool.

It really depends on what your looking for in a gun like a bbb is all around good, while the rf20 and big salvo are for close range.

Warpig, the Big Salvo is a long-distance weapon, have you ever seen the size of the airtanks? They're HUGE. I think that your a little mixed up.

Not everyone goes to NHQ. Many feel that NH is all you need.

That said, what is it about everyone needing advice on what to buy? This must be the third time we're going around with a new member asking what to get that's not overly complicated to mod.

The four easiest primaries that you can currently buy, to modify for really good performance for the dollar are;

1. Big Bad Bow. Cut the tip of the arrow barrel off, clean out the restrictions, and you can fire micro darts or stefans (might be a little loose, though) from it. Put in a little piece (6-7 inch) of CPVC for a barrel and you're really in the game.

2. Titan. I hate them, but a sock monkey can modify one to fire darts, and you WILL get great range from it.

3. Maxshot. 10 bucks, a coupler, and some PVC pipe, and you'll have a "Poor-man's Crossbow".

4. Lanard Blast Bazooka. I don't have one, but after seeing Captain Slug's clean mod, and everyone knowing I'm a sucker for air-powered weapons, my resistance to buy one is crushed. 9 bucks. How's that.

Everyone here made great suggestions (except Dayko; what's up with a RevShot? You can't possibly want to use that in a "real" Nerf war?), but I like Retiate's idea best; Get that NiteFinder apart and modify that; many of the users of NH made the NiteFinder their first modification; it'll get you completely acquainted with how most all Nerf blasters work, and future mods will be almost "duck soup" once you are familiar with them.

DON'T start out modifying your Longshot. You'll end up like many who are posting how it's not working for them, and I already warned everyone about not starting out with the LS as their first mod. I've been fixing up blasters for quite awhile now, and even I am going to need some time looking at that thing before I get it's working theory down; that's why our member base is filled with knowledgeable people who are experienced in modifying Longshots. Fix something else up first.

You've got lots of choices. It's a great time to be a Nerfer, now.

The Lanard Blast Bazooka you mentioned is actually called the Buzz Bee Big Blast. Same gun in a different case, but I prefer the Big Blast because it's easier to plug the pump, which just slides out of the tube.

Beware of the weak trigger on the Big Blast if you decide to go that way though.

I stand corrected. Buzz Bee Big Blast, it is.

That's a tongue twister if I ever saw one.

Thanks for the correction, NerfMonkey, and the advice. Our Nerf pile is going to get bigger.

Piney, I also didn't ask for an easy mod..
I just have no experience and no stores carry nerf in my town. I'm going on a trip so i wanted to have a good idea before I bought a piece of crap on accident.
