I just got an at2k, I did the usual mods to it, but I have a problem. I have a crayola marker as my barrel, and it is too short. I destroyed another one and got an extension that works when I hold it evenly. I have tried to glue it on, but it doesn't work. All my strong glues take an hour or two(or more) to dry, but once they dry they aren't going anywhere. I use gorilla glue and I have a small amount of 90min epoxy. What should I do for the barrel?

Try sealing the surrounding area with some plumber's goop. That stuff will make it incredibly airtight, given that you make sure it's fully and evenly spread on the surface.

Thanks a lot, does it dry quickly? I need a fast drying glue for this. You can find this at a hardware store right?

It doesnt really dry quickly, I usually do the gluing before bed, then the next day its completely airtight.

The problem with that is that it won't stay together unless it dries almost immedietly.

You could superglue it, then pour on some goop.

If I understand your problem correctly, you could try some small wooden dowel rods super- or gorilla- glued along the outside of the barrels, followed by a good wrapping in duct tape. If may not look pretty, but it should work.

Or, try gluing your barrels with some goop/epoxy, secure a small dowel rod alsong the ouside, then clamp the whole thing togther for staying power.

Thanks for all the help guys. I found a way to keep it straight. I put it on the part of the ls that the stock barrel connects to and where the dart leaves. It is at an 70-80 or so angle, but it keeps it nice. Hopefully my at2k will work better with this.

Is this a common problem? If so, I'd like to introduce you to the impatient nerfer's best friend:

Loctite 1-minute epoxy. Sets in "45-60 seconds," with "useable strength in 8 minutes." They're not kidding. More than once I've been gluing something, and picked it up/moved it to have it drip, then the epoxy sets, and the drip STOPS, and just hangs there. It's freakin' cool. Found at your local Lowe's.*

I keep one of these and a tube of 5-minute epoxy on hand at all times

*I cannot seem to find this stuff online, but I didn't look too hard.

Plastic cement dries in minutes and fully sets in less than two hours for an insanely strong bond, but it can fry your brain cells if you whiff it for too long (not speaking from personal experience. Stupid neighborhood classmates). Also, you might be able to find that epoxy at the dollar store (no, I'm serious. I can find Loctite, superglue, epoxy, E-tape, and more at my friendly local dollar store).

Supper glue is too viscous, and Plumbers Goop takes min. 24 hours to fully dry. I would go with the epoxy on this one, but go with a 5 min. set time, so you don't screw it up in a 45 second rush to close the tubes and try to keep it together straight.

That's pretty awesome. A 50 second set time? Incredible. What's the consistency, is it watery, thick? And how strong is it compared to the 5 minute epoxy? (It should say on the back in terms of PSI or something)

As for you're AT2K problem you could also use Hi-temp hot glue. I used it on all of my couplered guns and none have yet to fall off.

Ah, let me clarify with regards to my friend - it sets in 1 minute, is "usably strong" in 8, but it does not fully cure/harden until the standard 24 hours have passed - you can still pull things off and re-glue if need be beyond the 45-60 seconds.

As I said, I have both 1 and 5 minute epoxies, and I almost ALWAYS prefer the 1-minute. Unless I need a crapload of epoxy, so much that I wouldn't be able to apply it all within 45 seconds (Xbow/BBB barrel/coupler gluing, for example), I go for the 1 minute. You really have plenty of time. After it "sets" you still have a small window to adjust it before it completely sets.

Sure beats holding something in place for 5 minutes, let alone a couple hours. If you have epoxied thing in the past, have had to hold them in place, and haven't tried 1-minute epoxy... go get some. It's shweet.

As a suggestion: rather than trying to glue two crayolas together, just nest the crayola inside some 1/2" PVC, fins towards the back...it works rather well.

I'll have to buy some 1min epoxy. I would put it in pvc but I didn't wanna bother with it now. Fortunately my problem is almost solved, I just needa glue the new barrel to the 2k.

Agreed.

This is an easy process and it'll keep your gun in tip-top shape. I made a writeup on it a little over a year ago. My AT2ks have lasted several wars and countless firing without a problem. It'll take you a little less than a half an hour and it'll keep up with a good many guns. Good luck.

I actually semi did your mod, but I didn't have any decent pvc and the local hardware store is badly stocked. That was where I got the crayola barrel from.
