Heres an idea I thought of where when you pull the trigger on the gun it closes the bolt before you shoot. Kind of junk picture but i think you get the idea the yellow is the bar going to the trigger.

I think it would make reloading easier and quicker, and alos if you made a shotgun type version, I bet you could make the trigger cock the gun and close the breech, then when you push the trigger again, it fires.

You would somehow have to come up with a way to make the breach open further than the length of the trigger pull which for some guns is less than an inch.
If your using short stefans this would work but for larger ones you need to solve that problem.

It won't work, as you show it with the pin in the middle of the spring. Instead, search NTS, and look at boltsniper's design. Which works.

When the bolt closes when the trigger is pulled , it's called open bolt , so your basically making a nerf gun that fires from an open bolt. It's a good idea if you are making a breachloader , but otherwise the forward movement of the bolt kills accuracy. Courtesy of my addiction to the function of guns.

I still don't see it being a viable design. It would take a complex system to allow for 1/2" trigger pull to be transformed into at least 1.125" of breech movement.

I agree with prometheus on that, closed bolt would be better, and more practical . Open bolt designs are only useful for submachine guns, and I dont think that this is intended to be an SMG

So, theoretically, you wouldn't have to manually close a breech or bolt, as it would do it itself.

Cool concept, I just don't see the point.

I don't know exactly what you're talking about here, but it made me think of this dart gun I got as an arcade prize years ago. It was annoying, but i see a potential in it. If you could make a gun (better than this one) that fires using only the pressure from pulling the trigger, that would be the ideal semi auto. Too bad the arcade gun fired about 10 feet. maybe multiple trigger pull cocking would work. (at least it would allow desert-eagle type double-wielding)
