Just cut 2 pieces of PVC to length and glue 2 clips side by side. Cardboard was used for reinforcement.

To use just eject one clip, move over and pop the other one right in. The clip not in use is also easily reloaded because it is facing up and right at your fingertips.

I belive that is called double clipping. I know airsofters will do that and I think some special-ops do it with their weapons too. I thought about it but never got around to doing it. Nice to know it works like I thought it would.

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

you just cut the pvc however long u want it. You may not want it as flush to the gun as we have or if you have say a shotgun kit on the gun you would have to space it further away. Just take the pipe and place it next to the clip while its in the gun and mark off where you want and cut.

I think I've seen a sort of similar mod that put one clip below the other. This one looks significantly more convenient, especially with the ability to reload like that. It looks like the cosmetics could be improved, though.

Yeah, I did something similar with mine. I attached one to the other (overlapping about an inch) offcenter facing opposite directions so that I could reload the bottom one, then just pop the assembly out and flip it over:

You can kind of see it there. Cool variant on your part though.

Thats pretty cool, Ive actually thought of something like this but never got around to making it seeing as I don't own a LS. But couldn't you just make a 12 dart clip? Or make two 12 dart clips and do this or the other double clip like bpso86 and have double the capacity?

You do realize how incredibly bulky and huge doing this to two 12-round clips would be, right? It'd be pretty tricky.

Yeah, when it's mentioned about magazines or clips, it' s asked every year or so. We can tell who actually shoots firearms and who just plays video games involving firearms.

A magazine is a box, drum, or hopper that holds and feeds ammunition in a firearm, in an organized manner.

A clip, according to firearms terminology, is a device, designed to hold ammunition, until it's ready to be loaded into a weapon. The most widely recognized stripper "clips" are those found for the M1 Garand rifle, and the Russian SKS rifle.

Over the years, soldiers, cops, crooks, and video game junkies have heard and have called magazines "clips". It's generally slanged out as interchangable, but most firearm purists would rather not refer to a magazine as a "clip". Indeed we refer to them as "mags".

But if I recall correctly, Hasbro refers to the reload system on the Longshot as "clips". Just another way to keep in touch with the kiddies and non-firearm users from referring to their box magazines as "mags". So, clips it is.

Back to the topic, I really like these improvements, not so much for the so-called improved "firepower", since most experienced users of SM 5000s and Crossbows (both single-shot blasters) could dominate someone with even a modified Longshot. But I like the idea of takng the spare "clip" magazine and taking it away from the stock area, which is pretty awkward to grab when reloading, and plain looks weird there. This places the clips in a more accessible place.

Good mods, all. My son still wants to leave his Longshot, as is. I guess it's time to buy another one or three for me.

And wallymaniac, slow down on the posting. You don't have to be in every second or third forum thread. We never told our users about the auto-ban feature that kicks in whenever someone posts for an average of 15 posts per day. After day five, poof!

So take it easy, buckaroo. Just thought I'd add that.

I know I referred to the magazines as clips earlier but this is the difference:

Magazines hold ammo but the gun can be shot without the clip attached (like most modern assault rifles), similar to how you can fire a LS by inserting 1 dart at a time directly into the bolt.

Clips reload magazines and become part of the firing of the gun with out the clip the gun cannot fire, (the M1 Garand uses this system) like the Magstrike because the dart is already held withing its own barrel.

"Stripper Clips" reload magazines but don't become part of the gun (like the Springfield 1903) in nerf this would be a Speedloader.

Hope this helps and correct me if I'm wrong about anything.

Always someone has to post right before I do. I'm pretty sure my information is right but there seems to be some discrepancy between Piney and I on the definition of a clip, can we get a third opinion?

Ebay. It was like 10 bucks shipped I believe. It's actually a red/green dot sight. Pretty heavy and useless, but it looks cool. Don't worry, I don't actually nerf with it on there though.

Great idea, although I do find that the 12-round mags are more practical.

Back to the Clips vs. Mags

Clips reload magazines and become part of the firing of the gun with out the clip the gun cannot fire, (the M1 Garand uses this system) like the Magstrike because the dart is already held withing its own barrel.

Not necessarily, clips also include stripper clips as well. Some guns require the stripper clip to be inserted with the rounds (M1 Garand), but in others the clip simply speeds the process up (Mauser C96). In the case of most magazine using rifles (M16), clips can be used to quickly load the magazines which are then placed in the actual firearm.

First, addressing the topic of the original post:
I like it. Also, I like it a lot better than the one-upside-down form of conjoined mags that is more common

Somewhat related to the original topic:
I don't see what's so unnatural about pulling a mag out of the stock; but, maybe it's just me.

On the topic of clips and mags:
The clips use in the M1 Garand are called en bloc clips. Also, they are not (completely) necessary to fire the rifle. You can load and fire a single round without using a clip (I've done it myself); on the other hand, if you want it to be semi-auto, you of course do need a clip.

Also, another type of clip are the moon clips, used for quickly reloading revolvers. Strangely enough, the first time I ever heard of them was here on Nerfhaven. Revolvers also have speedloaders, which do not work in the same way as moon clips but serve a similar purpose.

Somewhat related to clips and mags:
The rotating thing on a revolver is a cylinder, not a turret. So, I'd say a Mav has a cylinder. On the other hand, I'd still say that the AT3k, DTG, etc have turrets.

Magazine = Includes a spring and a follower. There are plenty of guns that have an internal magazine that you load one shell/round at a time, or through the use of a clip. But the most common systems are detachable box or drum magazines.

Clip = Does not include a spring or follower. Usually does nothing except aid in reloading/feeding of a complete set of rounds.

something completely different from the two in regards to Nerf are the clips for the magstrike, powerclip, sawtooth, etc. because they include functional barrels. But because they do not include a spring or follower they are still technically clips.

Nerf called them "clips" in the manual because the person writing the manual either knows nothing about real guns or because they assumed the word "box magazine" would confuse 10 year-olds. But whatever.
