First of all, I can't even get this gun open. I loosened all of the screws. Are there any hidden screws?

After that, I saw that some of you sawed off your barrels. Does this improve the gun, or is it just for space issues?

One last question, could anyone post LABELED internals of the gun? In other posts, they looked incredibly complicated.
Thanks in advance, and if this post should have been in General, I'm sorry.

There are two screws behind the blue lid in the back. if you saw off the barrel you get much better range, I had over 45" easy. The highest one I did was 55". I'll post some pictures later today. Actually the insides of the DS are not that complicated, they are simple. I had trouble putting mine back together cause I didn't see where the string too
cock the gun was, but I found out where it went so no worry's.

One other thing that is a mess about the front half of the gun is that it is plastic-welded shut on some points. Making it a pain to open. Just an FYI you really don't need to open that part though.

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

45'??? I don't believe those ranges. I couldn't get mine to even hit 30'

I just got around to modding it. I sawed off the barrel so there is only 1.5" of it past the yellow grip, fed the cocking string through the butt of the gun, and put a stronger spring in 1 of the plunger tubes, to see how long it will hold. I'll try to get pics up soon, but my digital camera is trashed.

Mine is about 35 flat with the stock spring, 50-55 with the stronger industrial spring.(But I really don't expect it to hold together for very long.)

I'm still looking for a paint sceme(sp?) and a name. Any suggestions?

I sawed off my barrel too the yellow part of the gun. I measured more then once, and it was:
1 37'
2 43'
3 55'
4 45'
5 44'

Some of the shots were angled. straight shots were around 35"-40". Angled were 43"+.

Do you still need me too post pictures?

No pics, I think I understand.

So far, the plunger tube with the industrial spring has taken 300+ shots. If it makes it to 500, I think I'll do it to both tubes.
I know it would probably help to cut the barrel to the handle, but I think it looks better with a little sticking out.

Are you using the stock shells? If not, what did you make your own with?

I have one, too, but was stymied by the same hidden screws as you. I didn't have the courage to ask and continue, because the string scared me - I wasn't sure if I'd be able to put it back together.

Try reinforcing the insides like people do to crossbows if you're worried about spring power.

I suggest the name "Betsy."

Just for the record, I'm fairly sure we're all using the cpvc modded shells.

I was talking to the original poster, but really, an answer from anyone (and everyone) with a doubleshot would suffice.

I use homemade CPVC shells; I ditched the stock ones alltogether.

I use the original shells with the cpvc mod. How do you make a whole shell out of cpvc?

Like this.

CPVC coupler on the back of a bit of CPVC, craft foam hot-glued on to form a better seal. The couplers have been (hastily) dremeled down to fit perfectly into the doubleshot barrels. The hot glue is gold because that's what I use for my sefans, and It's a pain to take glue out of a gluegun and put in a different color. Many of my guns look funky (er, fabulous) because of this.

I've made six shells so far (and lost one), and will be making more. You can tell in the picture that the one on the far right was probably the most recent; it's dremeled nice and evenly, whereas the 2nd from the left was one of the early ones, when I was still figuring out the best way to grind it down.
