Well, what kind of tools do you have now? You can't accomplish anything without tools.

What do you mean? I do more than 1/2 my mods using nothing more than a screwdriver and a hacksaw.

Well, you just proved my point for me.

You will need atleast the following.
+ Size #0 phillips screwdriver (for air guns)
+ Size #3 phillips screwdriver (for some spring guns)
+ Atleast one hacksaw with removable blade
+ A set of X-acto knives
+ Wire cutters (very useful for clipping out brace pieces)
+ Carpenter's Square

And it would also be a good idea to get a corded power drill (one with a keyless chuck and a speed clutch) and a set of drill bits for it. You can use high speed cutting bits normally meant for a dremel with a power drill if all you intend to cut is plastic.

Tools last a very long time and are a great investment provided you don't buy crappy brands from the dollar store or Harbor Freight. I have a a few hand tools that my Grandfather left to me when he died that I still use regularly.

I would at least pick up these beauty's:
LongShot
NightFinder

Once modded they should be really good. My brother-in-law modded his ling shot(Basic mod, air restrictor removed and added a second spring) and it gets atleast 55-60" easy. the NF I haven't modded yet.

I know this is a lot of quoting, but in my admittedly limited experiance modding, a dremel tool is also very nice to have.

In my experience, a dremel makes life easier for almost every mod out there, but it only absolutely necessary for a few. I would add a hot-glue gun to the list of tools one needs for modifications/stefan making. It's just darn handy.

Gun-wise, It seems the Longshot is becoming the new standard issue weapon for nerf. The weapon I've had the best results with though is the Big Salvo. It's multi-shot, powerful, useful in almost any situation, and only $20 at Toys-R-Us, it's also available on Amazon for a little less than that. The Nite-Finder is a great pistol, but I'll always love the Lock-N-Load and Sharpshooter II. Those are a little harder to find though.

The problem I see with a Longshot is how complicated the insides are it can really overwhelm (sp?) most modders.

Take a look at every modification I have done. Absolutely NONE of them required or involved the use of a dremel or similar rotary tool. Dremels only excel at engraving work and fine detail sanding. For everything else there are far less awkward tools that are also more cost effective.

This makes perfect sense. The I use a dremel because tons of mods and homemades apparently require it, but I see how I could probably use other tools...

We laugh at getting parental permission. The problem is letting users gain memberships before their 13th birthday.

The Longshot might be a bit much for new modders (not me, and if you have patience and the ability to plan out what you are doing, by all means go for it...), but the Big Bad Bow, Nite Finder, and sometimes even the Dart Tag guns are good beginner guns, easy to find, and easy to mod. They are available at Wal-Mart, Toys-R-Us, and Target.

P.S.: You might want to clean up your spelling, grammar, and capitalization.

I'd look into one of each of the following:
a simple, powerful springer, like a Maxshot, BBB, or a Pump Shotgun
an air powered gun, like a BuzzBee Big Blast, AirTech 2k, Lanard Blast Bazooka
some sort of multi shot gun, AirTech 3K, Big Salvo, or Longshot
and a Pistol, like a NF or a TTG
If it were me, I'd choose: A Maxshot, a Big Blast, a Big Salvo and a NF, which should be $40-$50, then i'd spend $30 on some red foam from FA, $10 on PETG from OMC, and $10 on 1/2" PVC, 1/2" couplers and some 3/0 fishing weights for Stefans. You should be set for quite some time with all of that.

If i were you, I would get a NF or a BBB, because they have fairly easy to mod.

Wow, you parents are cool with you using your money on all the stuff you want? Lucky you. I gotta use my lunch money to buy my stuff. If I want to buy something on line, I buy one of those Pre Paid Credit Cards. But gun wise, I'd try to get a BBB. Its simple to mod, and it gets somewhat great ranges.

Lots of people have recomended the BBB, so I'm going to get one and you might want to look into it.
Also, I have a ton of NF's and they are delightful. The are compact (pocket size if you minimize them) and a breeze to mod. Look into a few of those too.

I would recommend an AT2K or AT3K, easy to mod, excellent guns. Definitely some of my favourites.

I've heard that they've been seen at Kohl's, but I can't attest to that. Nowadays, I think they're mostly secondhand over the intarweb. I got mine for $10 apiece onthe trading board.

My AT3K cost my $17 USD on ebay, but it was worth it (in my opinion). Look around the trading threads, they pop up on occasion.

Yeah, Khol's has em(at least in my area they do, and for $10 a pop).

EDIT I'm talking about the AT2K's to reduce the amount of confusion

BBB is a supurb weapon. My first gun was a maverick, my second was a BBB and my thind gun was...... I've never needed a third gun.
+ It's really easy to mod, and it doesn't take much to get it to it's maximum potential.
+ Great range, quick reload (after practice)
+ Durable and light
Get a BBB!

Ya i'm going to buy one of of Amazon either today or tommorow

I tried modding mine and it is breaking or something.

I got 3 AT2K's at a thrift store, no more than $2 a piece. I think people throw them in there because they are so horrible stock.
And I think people have said some general stores sell twin pack AT3K's.

I got mine from there, ordered them and they all came promptly. They're cheap too. But I must warn that they are all red.
