Its a great website. Just tell them a song or band that you like, and they will play songs that have similar sound.

It's awesome; like your own personal radio station. But with no ads, static, or songs you hate.

I guess you have some heavy duty industrial strength toilet paper holders. Do they advise you to wear eye protection when changing rolls?

Heh, whenever I use Pandora, it either finds no results or it just gives me songs by the artist I entered. I guess I'm not mainstream enough...

Bah. When I try to use it, it either tells me it's never heard of the guy (Bartók, Holst) or doesn't offer the entire genre (Debussy). And then, to compound the insult it calls Debussy a classical composer. Fans of Impressionism and Romanticism are sitting at their computers with shock on their faces. :P

Well, it works pretty well for jazz.

After what we had,
But I’m just not the angel you knew.

Well this fucking blows! Pandora was helping find more of the bands of the music styles I like and just because I live in Canada I can no longer search for new music through them. They got my IP address and found out I was from Canada. I did lie about my Zip code considering us Canadians have postal codes and all but shit. I find a website that I am on all the time bringing me the most chilling music and then bam! Its all gone! All because of some legality issues or some garbage. It was like getting a taste of a Top quality sirloin steak only to have the plate taken away from me and replaced with a bowl of dog food. Thats all I gotta say. Fuck!

It's as bad in the US, where ripping a DVD that you own is a criminal offense, the Attorney General is pressing for life sentences for software copiers, and the record companies sue people who don't own computers for using them to share music.

On a related note, podcasts are definitely going to get big restrictions, and in my personal opinion, the issue over them will get as big as file-sharing, since a podcast will let you play a possibly copyrighted song as many times as you want.

What do you mean? Podcasts are just like any other downloadable music; the fact that they use RSS is immaterial.

Eh, my bad, haven't gone to it in a long time.

Wikipedia reports all you need to know. See, "The Threat to Internet Radio".

Mind you, a "per play rate" means, each listener on each track. So, while a rate hike of .003 "per play" might not seem like much, but, put it into this formula: .003*Song Plays per hour(12-15)*Average listeners per song. That's 5 bucks per hour for 100 listeners per hour. $120/hour or $43,800/year. This is just not reasonable. Even more so with a .008 increase over the next 3 years, which will add another $100k+/year.
