Okay, so the first Hornet I tried to modify ended up with one non-functioning barrel. But that still left me with 2 working pairs of them. I had been meaning to find a use for them and finally had an epiphany earlier today of what to do with them. This is the result.

This is simply an optional attachment that hooks up to the tank input fitting I added previously. What I did is as follows.

1. Drill a small hole (1/8") in the rear of the Titan blast chamber.
Posted Image
2. Widen the hole using a hobby knife. Trying to drill it to a larger size with a standard bit would be dangerous.
3. Install and epoxy an instant tube fitting (part# 9087K11) into the hole once it is wide enough.
4. Cut 4 3-1/2" lengths of PETG
5. Make two frame pieces with four 9/16" holes and one 1-17/32" hole. I made mine out of 1/8" thickness grey PVC sheet.
Here is the template I made: http://www.captainslug.com/nerf/vt.doc
6. Glue the PETG barrels, hornet blast chambers, and frame pieces together
7. Use metric barbed tube fittings to couple all of the blast chambers together.
Posted Image <- Mcmaster part# 2429K53
8. Use some 4mm ID 6mm OD Tubing (part# 51825K43) to run a line from the hornet blast chambers to the Titan blast chamber.
9. To adapt the metric tubing size to 1/4" OD tubing by using a 4mm metric barbed tube coupler, and then shoving some rigid polyethylene tubing onto the other end (part# 5180K75).
Posted Image <- Mcmaster part# 2429K37

If you want to be able to remove the attachment without opening the gun you will simply need a coupler...
Posted Image <- Mcmaster part# 9087K61
a short length of more flexible tubing to go inbetween the Titan blast chamber and the coupler (Mcmaster part# 9446K261) and a stem plug to put in the coupler when the Volley attachment is disconnected. (Mcmaster part# 5779K54)

This took me maybe 20 minutes to make and all 4 barrels fire instantly after the main barrel of the titan due to how their valve system works. They also do not effect the range of the main barrel whether they have a dart loaded in them or not.
They do however add a measure of volume to the gun and therefore it will take longer to prime both together using the stock pump. But what you end up with is a shotgun attachment where you don't have to load all of the barrels in order for it to function.

8" CPVC Main barrel range: 90-120 feet
Quad 3" Hornet barrel attachment: 30-50 feet

^_^

Now THAT's innovative. That's a Titan I'd think twice about rushing after the one big shot.

I'd never have thought of that...well, now I can't stop thinking about it.

Very nice, Slug.

I just can't beleive how clean it looks.
Awesome thinking by the way on how the valves work and all.
So this thing fires all darts at once. Man thats scary. Imagine if you shotgun loaded each barrel.
Its kinda cool how you can still mount another hornet to the bottom.

I would like to point out that this can also be done with the blast chambers from all of the other semi-automatic guns, like the blastfire, big salvo, and triple strike. I have two triple strike blast chambers left that I was going to add but I ran out of barbed tees.
And they could be added to any gun that uses a simple dump valve linked to the trigger as well as some tubing you can hook up to. Like any of the Airtechs, SuperMaxxs, etc.

And if you want to delay firing the quad barrel attachment all you need to add is a ball valve (or similar valve) between them and the Titan blast chamber. Leave it open while pumping, close, pull the trigger, then choose when to fire off the quad barrel attachment by tripping the valve.

I'll post video of it firing tomorrow night

And I don't have my other hornet finished yet (have a cunning plan for it that I haven't been able to get to yet) so I'll have to wait to take a picture of it attached to the Titan.

I guess you have some heavy duty industrial strength toilet paper holders. Do they advise you to wear eye protection when changing rolls?

I am curious as to wether or not you could just hook up the one extra hornet barrel to the gun. You said a while back that only one of the barrels didn't work in the pair.

Any way I am gald to see this come to fruition, after you telling me what you were going to do I was really curious how it was going to work.

Now I just got to get a bigsalvo or two and a Big Blast.

I mod nerf guns so they look good. So leave my scopes, doodads, and trinkets alone I like them. I don't mind the weight and I started out that way on toy guns and its not going to change.

Would it work if you just added on the 6 hornet barrels in their original frame? I realize you had an inoperable barel, but I was just wondering.

Just awesome.

I can't believe I didn't think of this.
I have a brand new lbb and a totaled hornet but the barrels should still work I know now what I have to do.

Of course you can. I just didn't want to ad the single because it would look kinda ghetto to have a broken blast chamber that's not hooked up to anything and I didn't want to try cutting that pair apart.
Eventually I may add two triple strike barrels to the existing setup.

Would it work if you just added on the 6 hornet barrels in their original frame?

Sure. But if you still have the trigger valve assembly from the hornet you could also pull out the trigger plunger and cap the end of where it inserts. That way the hornet would still fire from the second trigger on the titan. There are limitless options for adding semi-auto blast chambers as long as you get the right kind of fittings.

Nice mod. If it weren't for the fact that you were using up old parts though, i would say that it's a bit useless. If you want to make the titan a shotgun type weapon, all you have to do is shove 3 pvc barrels down the big orange barrel and shove a couple stefans down it. I get about 100 feet of range with that setup, shooting three. I also found a very short coupler at the plumbing section of Lowes, and i dremeled out the part the big barrel screws into and shoved the coupler in there. Now I can unscrew the shotgun attachment and jam a single barrel in the coupler for ranges of at least 200 feet.

Well dur, but that setup won't fire if you only have enough time to load half of the barrels though. The volley attachment on the other hand can be loaded partially and still fire 40-50 feet.
You missed the point of this modification, which is to use the leftover hornet parts that most of us have to turn a Titan into an optionally shotgun-enabled weapon that's still capable of single-firing without having to switch barrels.

Except that a three-barrel--in-one setup is dependent upon stefans being in the other barrels. If you have a three barrel shotgun, you have to load three stefans. The magc of this mod is here:

They also do not effect the range of the main barrel whether they have a dart loaded in them or not.

Load them, or not. You can always have the shotgun function available, without having to switch barrels.

Also, while loading multiple stefans in barrels does work, each stefan will get different range. Since these are independent barrels, each barrel will get the same range.

EDIT: You got in a minute before me, CS.

I already said that i realized that he was using leftover parts. As far as having time to reload the darts, if you have time to punp it as many times as is necessary, then you have time to stick three darts in the barrels. I also mentioned that have a setup that allows me to single barrel or shotgun style my titan. Plus, if the mood strikes me , i can still use the huge missle as well. Don't get me wrong though, if i had the parts, i would do the mod to my gun too, both for its usefulness and it's coolness factor
