Cool, I used those springs in my modded nf and it gets great distance. At home depot one day i was browsing through the springs (i was going to attempt a homede:( I saw the handy man springs. i got a two pack and brought them home. i found that they fit in the nitefinder. by totally dremeling out the ars it fired suction taggers and streamlined darts. with the streamline the ranges must be at least 70 feet. it goes more than 3 times farther than a unmodded longshot. taggers and suctions are accurate and sting

Nothing new, but I guess it is a nice find there. Like SHA, what are the part numbers?
Good work.

You know, the ones that are just a little longer and are of thicker gauge.
I think they're the ones labed SP 9713.

I've never seen a Handyman spring before. They can't all be the same, can they now?SHA, I'm sure they mean the same Handiman Springs that everyone uses.

Edit: Never mind, CH updated his post.

I found a pretty nice collection of springs. I simply eye-balled what looked right to me since I didn't have a spring or gun on-hand.
I picked out some .062 and .080 wire gauge springs... I believe the .080 is a bit thick for nerf use, but the .062 doesn't seem much thicker than the original nerf springs either. We'll see how it goes.
The length for the .062 spring is 3.5" and has a 13/16" outer diameter. Should theoretically fit most guns/plungers.

was my grammar that bad?
I know this has been done before, but $7 gun and a 75 cent spring that cane way outshoot a longshot is pretty cool.
oh, and I do have a longshot mod to post...

I stopped by Ace Hardware by the UC Berkeley campus the other day...

the .08 (#52) are good for nitefires. They are a tad to powerful for longshots, and have to be clipped for dartags.
the 49s are pretty weak though.

This is, primarily, the only informative post in this thread, and in the other "65ft. Nite Finder Mod without Barrel Replacement" thread. Frosts, AJAQs, and Infections posts also were useful.
WHY? Specifics, that's why.
At NerfHaven, we're very nitpicky. If we're going to attempt to duplicate your modification (which I will presume is the main reason we post and read about modifications here) we need part numbers, dimensions, or at least some pictures to guide us along.
The way technology is nowadays, I'm utterly shocked that no one can afford (even on allowances) a digital camera, even a crappy one. At least you can get a picture on the Internet to assist your fellow Nerfers. How the heck are most of you on a computer to begin with? Frick the new video game or iPod. Get a digi-cam!
You have a modded NiteFinder. Excellent. You can brag about it (without pictures) at NerfHQ, and mostly everyone there will give you the props you seek. Here...well, show us something we can use or it'll just roll off most of our backs. Or worse.
Oh, about grammar. The "shift" key is your friend at the beginning of each sentence. Says the owners of the site.

That's strange.... my #52 spring is a .062 wire gauge, 3.5" length, 13/16" O.D.
The #47 is a .080 wire gauge, 3 1/8" length, and 11/16" O.D.
The .080 wire gauge seems rather thick--it's pretty difficult to compress using my hands. I'm not sure if a nitefinder can withstand that kind of pressure.
EDIT: Also, my #52 spring does seem a tad powerful as an additive spring to the Longshot. My roomate "borrowed" one and his longshot's trigger plate has been slipping like crazy. Seems like a trimming is in order.
