I was just wondering if nano stefans, if

1. they were size 1/4 or 3/8 inche (I don't care either way)

2. if they, either size is worth making a homemade for, such as ranges would be good?

Thanks.

Thanks again Fett, so 1/4 inch stefans I believe are called matchstick stefans, do those go farther than nanos?

Thanks z80, that makes sense, so is there no such thing as a 1/4 inch dart?

Wow, thanks LMA, that clears almost everything up. Thanks again.

Matchsticks are NOT 1/4 inch. Matchsticks are a different way to make a dart, by covering the head in plastidip.

A nano stefan is made with 3/8ths inch foam. You make them the same way you would a micro with no more than one copper BB as the weight. I have made them before and tested them out. They are good for range, but they are not that accurate and they are hard to keep from fishtailing (for me anyways).

There has been a pretty much said guide to dartsmithing:

The bigger the diameter the dart, the less it will travel, but the more accurate it will be.

That said:

Megas (3/4 in.) get slightly less than micros but are pretty much hit or miss depending on the shooter.
Micros (1/2 in.) are the 'in-the-middle' dart. They go far enough for most guns and pretty accurate.
Nanos (3/8 in.) are generally the 'lucky' dart. They will almost always promise 20 feet added range to most modded guns, but with a pretty hellacious loss of accuracy. With that range, you might get one to go 20 feet than a micros in mid flight and then completely miss the target after the said 20 foot increase over a micro.

I wouldn't use Nanos as a primary ammo source, but rather have some on you if you have a multiple dart barrel meaning you can change a barrel to use micros. I have heard of one person quad modding an AT2K with one of the 4 barrels being nano sized. Didn't hear results...I didn't expect anything good though.

So it goes; nano, micro, mega, jumbo, mongo being listed from smalles to largest, and as you go further right, you get less range but more accuracy.?
