In the last war I attended I discovered my "ultimate side-arm"...the Mag-strike. My modified mag-strike (write-up soon to come) uses nano darts and under ideal conditions fires up to 100'. Combine that with my modified SM 1500 for a primary and a short-barrelled at2k I had a very menacing combination.
I carried the SM 1500 in hand and had the pistol-length at2k on the side of my leg. I had a strap for my magstrike and slung it over my shoulder with an extra clip on my belt. The more I played the less I used my at2k and the more I used my magstrike. The shoulder strap made my MS instantly accessible yet it wasn't any burden at all while running.
I could keep my opponents at long range with my SM 1500 (shooting well over 120') and if I was charged it took less then a second to swing the MS into my right hand and begin unleashing a stream of darts. The basic strategy was simple:
Using the MS prevented people from getting too close
The SM 1500 can win almost any range war
Has anybody else tried a similar combination (i.e. a super "long range" gun with a high ROF gun)? And if so, what was the combination and did it work well for you? Why? or Why not?

I was using a Big Blast with an SS1. The Big Blast for most of my shots and the SS1 for two quick backup shots. But now I'm switching back over to my PC and probably an L'nL or an SM750 when I get it.

Yea, we all dream of that.
Yea, autos can be used as a sidearm or a primary for indoor wars.
That's kind of wierd have your sidearm bigger than your primary.

I was thinking of making the Big Blast and Longshot my primaries, so I could switch off in between games. An automatic sidearm would be great, but I have a feeling that it would be a little bulky for my own liking, and eat up too much ammo.

An automatic weapon requires a decent supply of ammunition in order to be used in a war. And they're awkward to reload if you're carrying another weapon.
I have a toiletry kit bag that I use as a saddle bag for carrying spare magstrike clips or 20-60 darts.

but I use my Wildifre as a primary (yes, a primary.. I have too many damned guns) and make sure I'm damn good at using a pistol.
Another idea that is warming up to me is having a Triple Strike with a pistol (again, emphasis on being damn adept with the pistol) and using the TS for a 1-shot-at-lest-one-kill deal.

Most of the people there had Crossbows, Longshots and BBBs so I didn't think I could compete with my strongest gun being a lnl but with allot of arcing I got some really nice hits and I always had the magsrike to back me up up close.
Since then I've bought a Lbb, a Big Salvo and a Max Shot so at the next war I think the Lnl will be demoted to sidearm again but I will still carry the magstrike.

The magstrike is pretty bulky to be used as a side arm. You'd have to put a nice shoulder strap on it or a hefty belt clip.

For my shoulder strap I took a Guitar Hero strap and simply e-taped it to the MS and it worked great. I kept the strap very short so it was tight enough on my back to not jostle around as I ran but just loose enough that a well-rehearsed shoulder string puts the gun exactly into my right hand. As for reloading, I simply take a clip off my belt and drop it in the gun. Rarely do I use more than two clips in a war, but my MS can fire off three clips if I need it to. I don't carry extra darts for it, just extra clips, so there isn't much of that awkward reloading.
