I think that's what this is...

I opened by (re-release) BBB and removed the air restrictor AND this piece, then put it back together.

It's firing and working... yet other BBB mods I've been reading about have this piece going back in. Is it important? What is it?

(Picture is from a mod write-up; a hole has been drilled in the middle of it)

This piece is very important because it stops the plunger head, so while it restricts air, it serves an immediate and necessary purpose.

I also drilled a hole in it, and I don't believe that hurts. Make sure you put it back in or you won't be able to catch the plunger correctly when you go to cock the gun, or while you can, the head travels too far forward and it might eventually break. With the hole drilled it can't restrict the air too much, and it does more good than harm.

With my BBB, I took it out, and it worked perfectly fine. It just really makes a lot of noise; the plunger goes farther than the length of the spring, so the spring rattles around. But I've had this gun for a while and its fine. But I do suggest keeping it in, It will most likely help in the long run.

Hmm. I have a question, I've been fooling with my BBB and I took that thing out but I have been having problems with the cocking of the gun and ranges, would any one know how to fix these problems?

By putting the piece back in?

Also if you guys actually read Angel's BBB mod (in the modifications directory thread stickied in the mod forum), he specifically says to leave this piece in because "the gun feels like it will break without it."

Well, I doubt this is your problem, but one time, I put the plunger in upside down, and it would only stay cocked for a few seconds. When I shot it, the range was pitifull. I opened up the gun again, flipped the peice, and it worked fine.
