The gun is made from 1/2 pvc pipe and is in a spiral shape. I use a manual ball-valve.

The gun's tank and barrel are at a 3.5-4 : 1 ratio and this gets the dart moving with alot of power.
The tank is filled up to 60psi and is breeched loaded.

Range ( tested so far )

60' ->hit a wood box and buckeled the dart on impact. - > flat shot.

100' feet easily but it hit a tree before it started to come down. -> about a 20degree angled shot.

[EDIT]
Wow sorry about the messy post did not realize I had typed that badly.
Didn't know about the signature image thing.

I could not understand your post at all, I do not mean to backseat moderate, but you better clean up your spelling and grammar, along with legibility.

He built a homemade with a tank size to barrel size ratio of about 4:1. He shot a box and it destroyed the dart, so he knows the ranges are more than 60'. He is using a bike pump to pump it to 60 psi.

I don't know what you mean by a "ring" of PVC, care to elaborate? And what kind of valve are you using?

Ok, I get it now. That sounds pretty powerful but I'm still not sure what you mean by a spiral shape, do you have any pics?

ill try and get a picture soon but I need to find my camera.

NEW RANGE

~120 feet at 60psi

CLOSE RANGE TESTS:
shot at 3/16 inch steel and made a good dent for a Stefan.
3 layers of carboard
Almost through a soda can stopped cause the can fell of the deck it was on.

shoots a mini gatorade bottle about 40 feet at 60psi. Straight up it shoots the same bottle about 30 feet into the air. Now onto version 2.

Need a bigger tank and a better trigger a manual ball valve is annoying.

No way in hell that made a dent in 3/16" steel plate. That's like saying it will go through a car's body panels.

Prometheus is right. 3/16 sheeting is not possible to dent with homemade stefans with 60 PSI. I just went through the math, and there's not enough speed or mass for it to actually leave a dent. A mark I can see, but not a dent.

Anyway, sounds like a solid homemade. Try it out in a war and see how well it does. Those are my recommendations for now.

Pics?

Screenshot or it didn't happen.

Quite honestly, there is undoubtedly a part of the equation missing. The gun you have seems to be pretty potent, but can't imagine some of the things you've been describing. I'm not even sure if a foam dart could actually do the damage you say it does no matter how much power is behind it.
What do you have on the front of the stefan?

I agree with thescheif. I have an AT3K with an extended air tank that is wickedly powerful; it can dent the lid of a paint can at point blank, and shoot through both sides of a pizza box. By dent a paint can, I mean a slight distortion visible by holding it up to a light and watching for a different type of reflection. I have two questions: Are you sure that it was steel, and are you sure that it was 3/16 of an inch thick? But, if you are getting the ranges you're talking about, then good job. You should definitely put up some pictures, or a more detailed description of your design. It sounds similar to something I built a while back: a bike pump, a 2 by six inch pvc air tank, a ball valve, and a barrel about three feet long (I don't think further explanation is necessary). If I remember correctly, mine got similar ranges.
I am not trying to criticize you, or doubt your design. I would just like to know how you made something that powerful.

I'm really not sure about the thickness of the steel can. I know 3/16 is kinda thick i know. ill try to get a real measurement but there are 4 distinct dents in the metal. Also its a really old paint thinner can so my friend and I are kinda scared to open it.

Need thicker darts 1/2 FBR is really small in 1/2 PVC god 1/8 inch gap between the sides and the dart.

Pictures soon just made a more powerful cannon so ill be using that for now.

2 tanks 1" PVC at 12inches long. Will be testing after i get a leak fixed.

its a really old paint thinner can

Then it's probably only .005" thick, not .1875" thick which would be the starting thickness for the armor on a personnel carrier protected from small and medium arms fire. Containers get strength from their shape, not from the material thickness.

I'm still not sure what you mean by a spiral shape.

I think he means that the pressure chamber has multiple angled couplers, allowing it to form a loop and save on overall length. I might be mistaken, it's hard to tell from such a vague opening post.

If the dart failed and the weight was the only thing to make impact it could slightly plausible. My Crossbow can dent a cheap metal door at close ranges with a good dart. If the dart failed and the homemade had a huge airtank it might happen.
We should stop calling out/making fun of/pissing GC off. He's actually contributed and is available for trade. He's a better than average member no doubt. Got your back Cole.
