I have read other peoples posts about how bad the star wars guns are but i have modded both the clonetrooper and the rebel blasters and they are not that bad. Yes they are not your super high powered things but they sufice in close range combat. Anybody else think these guns are not that bad?

What ranges are you pulling from them?

Is there any chance I can get a pic of the internals? I'm curious as to how large the air compression chamber is, as well as the spring size.

I'm going to pick several of these up to paint into budget Star Wars replica props, but having a nerf-worthy one would also be nice.

It looks like you could get excellent ranges out of this if you enlarged the air chamber.

Sharpie, you say its a prety much a nf, but I really don't think so. In the picture labled "the rear part" take a look at the distance between the catch and the indentation in the plunger. Not very big. I think if you added some extra length to both the pluger and the pluger chamber it could be a very good gun, but as it is now, I'm not so sure. Maybe I'll just have to get one for myself....

That is fucking funny. They use a long ass plunger rod and stick the traditional NF plunger in there. Classic. Although like someone said, there is alot of room for expansion there.

The average range I got for the Clonetrooper blaster after taking out the air restrictors it was only 21'. The average range I got from the Rebel trooper blaster was 26' after removing the air restrictors. Hope this helps.

I blame the lack of range on the shorter barrel in that rebel/NF trooper gun.

Would it be possible to increase the pull length and replace the air chamber with a larger one? Adding a longer barrel would not be difficult. Add a heavy-duty spring and it looks, from the amount of space inside, that this could be an amazingly powerful gun, surpassing even the NF. Of course, that depends on the case's being able to handle the force.

Where did you get these, and how much did they cost? I might want to get one to mod.

I am going to do something with this... Expect a mod soon. I am going to make a longer plunger tube from PETG... There is room enough in there for crossbow-like ranges to be squeezed out of it.

Thom, the only way that you could "enlarge the air chamber" is if you did the thing that Kbarker did, and used PETG to create a new one. Otherwise I have no idea how the heak you would enlarge it.

If you could get a plunger that long, it woud be amazing! Or you could integrate an at2k into it and be able to hide the super long barrel which usually ruins the clean look of a gun. I might get one if I see it.

Yeah, it also helps if your nuts are made of steel. Or atleast as hard as steel, to ensure that you can shoot far enough.

Putting in a new PETG chamber is pretty much what I meant; I know that it would be nontrivial, but the amount of space in this thing might make it worth the effort. The plunger rod's plenty long as has been mentioned. If this thing actually did manage to get "crossbow-like ranges", that would be excellent for those of us who can't afford a real one.

The main problem is the locking mechanism. Sure you can fit a large air chamber in there, but the cocking mechanism is so far forward from the plunger handle that you'll have to find a way to move all the trigger mechanism stuff back more.

Sure the plunger shaft is really long, but the actual travel distance from the plunger head to the cocking mechanism is quite short.

Being able to increase the length of the air chamber while keeping the trigger intact is going to be the main obstacle to any kind of power mods.

The main problem, I think, is getting the plunger to lock back further (i.e. you pull it back 5 inches instead of 3).

Ther are two ways to do this:

1. Move the catch mechanism back (what frost vectron mentioned).

2. The catch face on the plunger shaft could be moved forward, away from the catch mechanism. Perhaps it would be possible to just dremel in a new one, maybe just a short distance from the plunger head?

In either case, the catch mechanism and the catch face be farther apart when the plunger isn't cocked back. This results in a further distance to move forward when the plunger is released.

New guy here.
How do you get the rebel trooper apart?

I can't get the end cap off?
I was going to cut it with the dremel as a last resort, but I would rather not.

Can anyone help out?

Thanks.

I have the gun. You need to pry the shit off. Try using a flat head screw driver.

I'm not sure if it's been posted yet, but if you were to extend the plunger stroke, you'd also need to extend the plunger tube. KBarker experimented with this on his NF rifle. Find that topic, and you'll know what I mean. Perhaps if we replaced the plunger tube with PETG, like he did? A longer plunger stroke would mean a larger volume of air being pushed onto the dart.

Then again, if the plunger stoke was increased, the spring could be made longer, and possibly even be replaced with a cut down AR-15 spring. That'd give it some serious power, but reinforcement would be needed to make sure that spring didn't shove the plunger through the barrel, to be shot out into some kid's ass.

It could happen.

Anyway, I might purchase one of these, just to see what I could do to it.

You can put the end in a pot of boiling water for a couple of seconds and then try to pry it off. I will take a number of dunkings in order for the water to melt the glue and it to come off. You just have to be careful not too leave it in the water too long or it will worp the barrel.
