I have a broken.. uh.. the roughly circular piece that goes on the back end of the plunger tube that keeps spring and plunger in place, and attaches with two small screws.

The two nubs that the screw went through snapped clean off. I either need to repair it somehow, or get a new one. I'd rather not buy an an entire new LS.

If the parts came off cleanly (no severe warping, shattered edges), you could epoxy them back on. It might also be possible to cut another one from fiberglass, but that would be too difficult to attempt for some people.

I'm worried that even epoxy might not do it though. All the stress of the spring/constant firing is on it.

Something will do it. If Epoxy won't, Plastic Welder sure will... anything that'll hold 100-ish lbs should be good enough.

Could you not just squeeze the two parts together untill you fit the plunger assembly into the gun.
Keep the broken plastic backing peice on there even though the screws dont thread in any more.
Then just place it in. If I remember correctly there is a blue plastic wall on both sides of the longshots shell that should keep that peice in place.

I was thinking about what I would do if this peice broke off.
That is what I came up with. Let me know if it works.

We've put bolts through crossbows, if push comes to shove you can do the same to the longshot. Careful placement and size of the bolt should make it work, although it might interfere with the adjustable stock.

I forgot about epoxy, I see things on it everywhere, and still I'd forgotten It's the perfect plastic glue.

I've had this broken bolt/cocking handle to a Tornado for so long, I will try epoxy on it, if it's not too mutilated from the 5 other coats of glue.

^don't make that mistake, use epoxy first thing, then maybe plastic welder.

Epoxy is the answer (thanks for reminding me). Plastic welder is cool sounding.

It works on jagged edges too, but if that one post meant shatterered pieces, cut a new one.

Forsaken Angel had talked about Fishin' Glue a while back. He said that stuff was really strong, maybe it would work better than Epoxy. I don't know much about this stuff, but I think Angel would know.

That happened to me. the thing is that you don"t need the screws. All they do is keep the piece in quesion in during processing

IE: you don't need to fix it unless its heeding the pullback of the plunger rod.

It only needs to be behind the ridge on the shell itself and to keep it in place when you're putting it back together you inset a rod of some sort in through the hole for the locking stock. (the hole near the back that goes from the blue shell to the orange of the plunger cylinder, when all screwed together.) Good luck and have a nice day.

I've had this happen to me as well. Some epoxy worked wonders on it and it held up fine.

I suspect a medicine bottle lid cut to the right size (and the collar removed) can work with the proper nibbling of the LS internals to accommodate the slightly enlarged diameter. Ideally, you can drill a screw hole or two to keep it in place, as well.

I would just get another part from someone else on the forums. It couldn't be that expensive. It beats trying to make a new one out of fiberglass.

I have a metal washer replacement. It's in my sales thread, but I didn't take pictures. I'll take some if you want. It screws on the holes, and worked fine for a while on my singled LS (stupid boltsleds ). It takes a little cutting of the shell to make room, but it's worth it to know that part will never break again. You can even grind down the outsides to make it fit without any cutting, or minimal amounts.
