[Jergling]

Laugh at me if you will, but i think that I have succeded in make possibly the worst, cheapest nerf gun ever, with a length of pvc, balsa wood, some fbr, a stick, and a rubber band. this thing is incomplete, but i've gotten it to fire a makeshift stefan (which had WAY too much wheight) about 20 feet. Also, I'm thinking about a turning it into an actual shotgun, by slicing a dart lengthwise into fourth pie slices.

NOTE: a shotgun is a gun that shoots SHOT, rifles are very different from shotguns, to be a shotgun, it needs to fire spraying particles.

You are aware that grammar and spelling are part of the Code of Conduct, NerfMonkey. I just want to see what the gun looks like, and for him to clean up his posts. Someone would have called him out eventually, and it's better another member than an admin that might ban him off the bat.

Yeah I guess you're right. But when someone makes one little mistake like forgets to put a comma or capitalize something people go crazy.

I think that is what he meant. I'm pretty sure of it. But if he sticks to his word, we won't know.

And I hate having to decode someone's writing. It isn't hard to type correctly and use grammar. It's okay when it's just a typo but when you are being lazy or annoying, you have to go. Even Boltsniper makes mistakes but we love him to much to say anything (and he doesn't mean to do it).

I tried to hold back from posting on this topic which has already caused a possibly beneficial member of the boards to leave and has strayed extremely from the topic. I need to get this off of my chest. I also wanted to get it up before those mentioned below moved onto other topics since it was directed at them, but they will probably see it soon.

First off, when I last checked, Grenado, SHADOW HUNTER ALPHA and Commonly Hunted were not admins here at NH. The admins (as well as the Founders who also have the same rights), as I know them to be are The Infinite Shindig, Talio, cxwq, ompa, Pineapple, VACC, Death, Groove, Julie, and Spoon. Do any of your three names resemble those that I just mentioned? I didn't think so. If you have a problem with the posting habits of a new member, instead of flaming him in the forum, maybe you could send him a polite PM showing him what he is doing wrong and informing him of how things are done around here. I have done this many times in the past and it works alot better than bashing him in front of the entire NH community and making him feel like shit. NerfMonkey may not be an admin here at NH, but he is one at NHQ. I have talked to him about how I post to the new users when they are not conforming to the rules of NHQ and he appreciates that alot more than a flame war. Pineapple knows that I do it here too. This is really starting to piss me off.

While I agree that it can be a bit annoying to try to decipher some posts, Jergling's post wasn't that bad. Sure, it could have used some work, but I was able to read it with very little decryption. To say, however, that this is what you do for recreation makes me want him around over you. NH, in my experience, has the reputation of being more mature than NHQ, but this is not to say that there is anything wrong with NHQ. Your comments here in this quote are an example of a thing that pisses me off. Like I said above, if you had sent him a PM and explained to him what the admins want a post on NH to look like, he may never have decided to leave.

He is an admin over at NHQ and by his post count I believe he knows what the Code of Conduct says, but you need a refresher course. There is nothing in the CoC that mentions spelling or grammar. It says "Use capitalaization and punctuation correctly." Yes, he didn't use proper capitalization in everything that necessitated it, but he made an effort. As for his punctuation, it's all there where it needs to be. What you are referring to is mentioned in the Site Feedback forum under the pinned topic, "New Users." It is also linked to the topic titled, "Admin Rampage" on the home page of NH under the title, "Webmaster's Advice." Did you even think that he may have missed it? He is new. Guide him in the right direction.

I am going to close my rant on this note. I am alot older than most of you that are here on both NH and NHQ. I don't have alot of patience for the things that many of you do to new members that you consider perfectly acceptable behavior. We were all n00bs once. Help them instead of bashing them. They may have something good to contribute to NIC. I am going to PM Jergling to see if I can coax him back to the boards. He made an honest mistake. His errors were the product of an internet society where proper literary english is not a requirement.

I am also not an admin, but at least I have the best interests of the entire NIC laced into all my intentions, unlike some of you.

On topic, I think Commonly Hunted's picture is pretty accurate. I'm impressed that Jergling basically made a simple plunger rod to ram the dart forward. This idea has some potential.

Shut up. I only told him what people were trying to tell him, I wasn't saying it myself.

They all know that they aren't mods and they all know that they aren't trying to be mods. They are just trying to help him out in front of everybody so that no other members try to tell him the same thing twice.

You aren't making things much better. This is his topic and it should've been done since he is gone but you had to say something that you didn't want to say. Keep it to yourself or PM us with your problems since that is what you claim to do. Don't flame and tell others not to flame.

Wow, What a baby. I mean look at the first 5 posts.

The first: Jerglings idea

The second: SHA asked him to fix his spelling and asked for a photo.

The third: NerfMonkey is angry. Stating that SHA is not the grammer bitch.

The Fourth: SHA explaining why he posted what he did.

The fifth: Jergling going into childish rage screaming something about how we are not his father and we cannot tell him what to do and then saying goodbye never to return to the boards again.

If he cannot take the fact that only one member here on NH, told him to fix his spelling and grammar before he went crying. I doubt he has the patience to mod anything in the first place. To see a member go like that I have only one thing in mind. "Good fucking riddance".

Badger does have a few good points and SHA did kind of come off a hair too aggressive in the beginning but he is absolutely right in the fact that someone would have called him out on it sooner or later. The thing is that person who should have called him out on it, should have been one of the admins. Commonly hunted is also correct by stating that we as members were just trying to help him out and prevent him from getting banned or suspended in the first place.

I think everyone here just had a bad day or something.

I think everyone here needs a little of that.

In my own defense, spelling and grammar are accepted as things to be correct about on these forums. (Your remarks are borderline hypocritical, as CH pointed out, badger.) I also don't know if your arguement is accurate, seeing as he has been here since September of last year.

However, I will admit that I was a little too harsh with my reply. You could argue that he has been here long enough to know how to post, or that most of us are not admins (which I am aware of). Even so, I doubt that any one of you (with the exception of those with extreme patience) would have done anything differently than I did, and seeing how you didn't have the opportunity, you can't prove that you wouldn't have, and I can't prove that you would have. This will be the last controversial remark that I make in this thread, and, for your own benefit, I suggest that others follow suit.

the kid may have been a bit lax in his grammatical skills, but y'all didn't have to shit all over his simple idea. what was wrong with it anyway? i build similar things in class out of old pens and mechanical pencils, and they work fine.
