Ok guys, this is my first contribution to NH. I've had my Rapid Fire Rifle for about 6 months, and was disappointed by the magazine and shell system. I've always thought single loading bolt-action rifles were cool, so I decided to gut the shell system from it and just use the breech the RFR has. This is a pseudo- writeup, because I've run into a few problems.

Writeup first.
(My digital camera sucks, so the pictures aren't great)

What you need:
RFR
File/sharp knife/dremel
1/2 CPVC
3/4 CPVC
Electrical tape
Screwdriver
Saw

I first did joeyalgr444's lever-to-bolt action mod.

From there, I opened it up, and took out some of the guts. The orange tip is glued on, but I just cut it off.

After that, unscrew the screws on the barrel and open it up. Inside there is the pieces for the shell ejection mechanism. Take those out and get rid of them. On the inside of each half of the barrel are two little plastic pieces. File/dremel/cut those out of there however you can. The barrels should look like this afterwards.Posted Image

After that, take about a foot of 1/2 CPVC and 3/4 CPVC. Wrap e-tape on each of the ends of the 1/2 CPVC about a half of an inch from the cut so it will stay stable in the 3/4 CPVC.

slide the 1/2 CPVC into the 3/4 CPVC, and hot glue both ends. Once it dries, slide it into the barrel half that has the housing for the ejection mechanism. should look like this.

After that, take out the plunger. It has an ok spring, but I added a CF spring to it too. To get at the spring, you have to pull out a little pin at the base of the plunger. I didn't get a pic of this, but its fairly easy to do.

Once that is done, put everything back where it was, and screw it back together. Don't forget to hotglue the new barrel to the old one so it doesn't move around. Done, for now. I painted mine black, too.

Now onto the problems.

The darts dont leave the barrel. I'm not sure if there is any way to make this happen, or not. I may redo the barrel setup, or try to turn the plunger around so it gets a more direct airflow. That, or gut it entirely and put a At2K airtank in there. I didn't have very high hopes for this gun when I started. The writeup is for anyone who wants to try this out and improve on it.

The 1/2" CPVC may be too tight for the darts. There's not a lot of power in a RFR, so the increased friction of the tight CPVC may be more than the poor little plunger can handle. Try using just the 3/4" CPVC and see what that does. If you can figure out a way to reverse the plunger let us know, that would greatly increase power.

Definitely too long. The "barrel" on an RFR is purely cosmetic - it doesn't touch at all. Twelve inches is huge for something with as small of a plunger displacement as an RFR.

I'm pretty sure the CPVC is too long. Try half that length.

Yeah, thats what I was thinking as I was making it. I'm probably going to scrap the spring mechanism and put in an AT2K airtank, anyway, but its worth it to try halfing the CPVC barrel before I do it.

So, what you did was remove the clip, making it load a single shell, fire, eject, then repeat?
But, in doing so, you can do a barrel replacement?
Is this correct?
I think this looks really cool, but I don't quite get how it works.

The intention was to remove the clip/shell system because I didn't like it that much. I felt that it was too complex and the shells just sucked in my opinion. I wanted to make it so you opened the bolt, loaded a dart into the back of the barrel, closed the bolt, and fired. I'm probably going to scrap the whole breech idea and just stick an AT2K tank at the back of the barrel and muzzleload it. I'll get some parts and post a writeup of that when it gets done.

I think increasing the range on this gun is virtually impossible unless u find another system of air delivery.
It looks nice though and some advice im surew other ppl have given saw the barrel down.
