Hey everyone. That last few days have been quite frustrating for me. I bought a bunch of stuff (springs, metal threaded rods, CPVC, and other stuff) but it seems like everything I've gotten is wrong. I've tried some mods and haven't been having luck, looked for guns in stores and failed, and found a really old gun and it's confusing the hell out of me.

Not the best of weeks. Lets start with the positives.

The Longshot's foregrip has been painted and the Tactical Light has been secured nicely so it can be disassembled. I'm really quite fond of it now.

Next, I made a double-barreled NiteFinder. It's pretty cool, but the ranges are somewhat disappointing, even for a first gen NF. With both shots it only gets around 30', and firing one gets around 40-45'. Aside from different barrel material, I don't really know what do do to make it better. But it's a pretty cool sidearm nonetheless.

Next, I need to find different springs. The ones I got were around 4", and were too big for a NF, and too small for the LS. It was also REALLY heavy gage. It has quite a kick in the LS, but It wasn't the right one for the job, so I'll look for another one.

Next again, I found THIS gun. No idea what the hell it is, the logo wore off years ago. It's chipped and broken in several places, but nothing past fixing I believe. Anyone know the name of this gun, have any links to mods, or pictures of internals?

Posted Image

And I think I messed with this, because It's not working how I think it should. It's supposed to pull the metal rod backwards, which releases the air, but i can't figure out how. Grrr.

I have an idea for how I could fix it, but it's DRASTIC. Like huge internal reworking drastic. But just getting a picture of the internals would really be better.

Oh, and does anyone know how to remove the turret? For the life of me, I can't figure it out. It fires Nerf Megas, so I can't test it at all until I give it a barrel replacement.

And lastly, I've been trying to give the Longshot a barrel replacement. This is my first experience with having variable length barrel material (I've only worked with roseart barrels and a fixed-length piece of brass). I got some 1/2" CPVC, which fits darts pretty darn tight.

I tried loading in a dart tip first, like it would be in the LS. This is as far as I can get it in without really pushing and crushing the dart. This couldn't possibly work. Is this the wrong material for a LS barrel replacement, and what should be substituted. In TIG's write-up, he used aluminum, which I haven't been able to find. I also haven't been able to find lengths of brass. Reccomendations would be appreciated.

As a note, I tried loading in darts tip first into both the RoseArt barrels and brass. Both worked much better and easier, and were able to be put in with little issue. I think the brass has too small a OD though, and it's only about 4" long anyways.

So there it is. Sorry for the very long post. Answers/ references/ advice on any of the questions would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you all in advance. i don't know what I'd do without you guys.

The gun is the SuperMaxx 3000 (blue edition) and my suggestion for it is to single barrel it, as for the nitefinder what kind of barrel material did you use?

I thought that was a SM3k... but I looked it up and it was some weird black gun.

Single it eh? Sounds like that could be a plan.

The Double NF was two Roseart barrels.

You should replace the barrels with brass to get higher ranges.

Don't worry, you're not alone with the problems thing- for the past month I've been modding a friends TTG and it took me 6 tries to actually get it working well, and it's a really simple gun! Plus a lot of other mods did not go as well as I would have hoped...

Anyway, for the night finder springs try ACE #49. (if I can remember right) Those are really heavy springs and they are almost the same length as the EX-3 stock spring. I had great results with them but (and because) my parents made me take them out. For the longshot spring, you could buy a max shot off of Amazon and that should be cheaper that buying a 3B.

I can confirm that that is a supermaxx 3k blue, and I have that gun modded in a unique way. I gave up on the stupid complicated trigger mechanism and removed the rotating black plastic piece and put a BIC pen tube where the spring was (the stronger one). That got me a nice reliable hair trigger. I forget how I removed the turret but I somehow got rid of the restrictors and junk and put 10" brass barrels into sections of an old pump tube of a supersoaker (I think it's thinwall PVC) that fit like a glove in the regular barrels, then gooped it up. I can get you pictures if you want. Don't single it, you would get the same result as a singled 2k.

P.S.- reinforce the pump handle!

Thanks for the feedback you guys.

I've heard of the Bic pen mod. I'll look that one up. Posting pics would be great, but you could PM me them too if you wanted.

I still can't get the damn turret off. I broke off the orange plastic piece and took out the screw, and it still won't budge at all. Blargh.

I'll check out that spring. Thanks alot.

Oh, and LnLKing, for the double NF, I can't find any good brass, and the NF barrels work pretty darn good. I might try CPVC barrels (I haven't gotten to try them out yet), but the RoseArt barrels work good.

Wow.

I still wish I had my SM 3000 Blue. Everyone said that it was the worst of the three 3000s that were produced (first the "Yellow", then the "Green", lastly the "Blue"), but I thought it kicked balls pretty nicely.

This is all I have left of mine...a picture.

Posted Image

4 inch PVC barrels (1/2 inch SCH 40), plugged pump (and yes, reinforced pump handle), and a SM 1500 riding side-saddle, primed by a bike pump and schrader valve; perfect combination.

Got 70-80 feet of the eight shot barrel, and 100 + off the 1500. It was beastly.

Put a Crosman pistol stock and some metal bracing rods on, and the sucker weighed about 5 pounds. Which was nice because most of the runty small people didn't like to take it from me.

Have fun with that one. It's already kind of a classic.

I myself have been having some bad luck as well. First I went to mod my long shot in a very unique way and thought it would be flawless. Big complicated plans are never flawless. In my frustration I went to mod my crossbow but more things went wrong. In the frustrations of both these guns I started and finished the eagle eye mod and the pump action shotgun mod that ended up being the farthest shooting springer! Whenever I get frustrated I just kind of put that gun to the side and get back to it when I have a "Eurika!" moment.
