Sign me up for two, standard size, not stefan compatible, (I use CDT's) if it's $15 each. (I'll only take one if it's $20 each)

These are amazing, CS!

and perfect timing, too. I actually have some cash to blow on these.

I've tweaked the design so that it's compatible with both stefans and CDTs so every magazine made will include the optional removable stefan guide piece. I'm currently just waiting for materials to come in the mail.

I'll have to decide after making the first 2 or 3 whether I would be willing to make these in bulk.

Well if your using stock darts then there really isn't a need to buy this.

I'll sell my LS clips, if CS gets this to work!

CS- you should sell it for like $17. ( atleast) Those things look pretty hard to make.

I'm going to make the followers at work using the mill so that I can cut a tooth into one end. The tooth will allow the follower to intermesh with the stefan guide when it is installed into the magazine from underneath. This feature means I only have to make one kind of any given part and I won't have to differentiate orders for stefan or CDT specific clips. You decide which you want once the clip arrives by simply including or omitting the guide piece.

You might be able to put two side by side so then you just switch one over to have another full magazine.

Hmmm.
Actually, that's very easy to do, but have one of them up-side-down. All I need to do is add two holes to the lower corners of the optional hoop.

Like so.

The benefit this being you can reload the upside-down emptied clip while the full clip is inserted in the longshot.

That is actually how my 2 clips for the gun are. I need to get 2 more to tape together for the back. I am able to fire off 6 from one magazine, flip, and fire the other 6 as I reload the empty. It's like an extra hand.

Bad news
+ The springs I ordered are not going to work
+ I will have to wind my own springs out of music wire or welding rod
+ Winding my own springs will take time

Good news
+ Making my own springs will cut costs quite a bit
+ Making my own springs will allow me to make magazines to hold 20 rounds
+ Making my own springs should also remove alot of dead space in the magazine (shorter compressed length of spring)

I'm going to take apart a stock magazine and see if I can make a winding jig from it's dimensions.

Well time is money. So costs should probably remain the same or a little less.

This is going to be so awesome if you get these to work.

Why isn't the Lonshot called the Slugshot?

I would be willing to make my own spring. I am able to do that and I have the resources and tools too.
What I can't do is the machining of the plastics and the basic construction of the unit(s).
Basiclly what I am saying is you could ship (To me atleast) the clip sans spring.

Alright, this might not be as quite as applicable in this situation, but I saw once on American Choppers and they needed to make a custon leafspring for a bike. They heated the spring steel in the kiln, and then dipped it in motor oil, and let it cool for about 5 minutes. They did this at least 4 times, and they explained the process all along, and the oil helps to increase flexibility, and prevents the spring from retaining a new shape when compressed for a long time. I have not personally tried it, but would recommend somebody try it, because them almost any size of springs can be made.

I'm not making a spring thick enough to need to temper the steel first. Music wire is really easy to shape cold.

Busy with other stuff and the prospect of having to wind my own springs is still fairly unattractive.

I said earlier that I would be willing to wind my own springs. I cna do that, and I have the tools necessary to. What I can't do is machine plastics.

Well, good news and bad news I guess. This project is not one of my priorities since these will not be fun to make (1/16th" thickness sheets can be annoying to work with). I'm going to be spending most of my free time in the near future on CSHG instead of this.

I never had any serious plans to make these in bulk. Everyone's enthusiasm went overboard. Now that Hasbro has replacement magazines available someone other than me can work on a tutorial on how to combine those.

Yes, that topic has been around for a few days now...

A pity the mags won't be made.

With the awesome in depth write-up for double clips that you made, there's no need to make these anymore. For $10, you can buy 2 clips and combine them, and you get almost the same results as making one from scratch, at about the same price.

Exactly. And 1/16th" thick sheets are really annoying to work with anyways.
